Chapter 2 (Inara)

Well what do you know, I'm back on this wonderful ship. I never thought I'd be back. After my blow up with Mal I figured I would never see the ship and the crew again. I am still a companion, but not for much longer. No one on the ship knows yet, but I plan to tell them soon. Mal and I have been getting more comfortable together. It makes me happy to "know" he does care for me. He hasn't exactly said it yet, but I know he does. I have my shuttle back, and in addition to making it my home, I've made it a sanctuary for the girls on Serenity. We need a place to just be, and not worry about anything.

River has taken a liking to Mal, being in the co-pilot seat almost all the time. Kaylee now has Simon, and they are just adorable together. They are still kind of confused on how to handle themselves in a relationship, but slowly they are learning. Zoe, poor Zoe, she hasn't been the same since Wash died. I fear she might do something stupid and get herself killed. Wash wouldn't want that and I hope she realizes that.

I walk around the ship and notice River staring through a window. I walk towards her but then she enters the room. I peek inside myself and see River oddly sitting in a chair, and Simon and Kaylee together on the couch. Then I hear Mal on the comms telling Kaylee to get down to the engine room. I see her stay there for a second, the get up, kiss Simon and leave the room.

After that I go to Mal to see whats wrong. He just gives me a smile then gets back to work. I worry about him. Trying to keep this old ship together is a tough task. I don't know how much longer he or Serenity will last.
