{Kaylee's POV}
We walk into the Bowling alley and a wave of voices hit my ears. Kids were at almost every lane. Margot grabbed me and pulled me toward a lane with a bunch of kids.
"hey guys! This is Kaylee she's new." I cringed, she shouldn't just say that.
They turned around the girls smiled and the boys stared. God, this is so uncomfortable. As if she could sense my awkwardness Margot spoke up,
"So! Who's winning?" She asked.
"Will at the moment but I'll catch up." Said a girl on the left side of the booth.
"Sure Cassidy, you keep thinking that." And the conversation continued, thank god.
Margot and I sat and talked most of the time at the alley. And I almost had down all of Margot's friends names. There's Cassidy, Michael, Will, Dana, Jade and Ryan. Apparently they had all been going to the same school system since they were kids. In the middle of Dana's turn we heard a huge roar from the lane next to us. A group of guys were congratulating their buddy who had just gotten a strike.
"who are they?" I whisper to Margot.
"They are only the most annoying kids in school. Their the jocks. Thats Jack, Casey, Evan, Luke, and their leader Aiden." She said pointing at a tall guy with brown hair and a varsity jacket.
"So basically steer clear of them?"
"yea, pretty much."
The rest of the evening went smoothly. As the game came to a close Michael ended up coming in first followed by Will, then Cassidy and lastly Jade and Ryan who were too busy making out to do much bowling. As everyone was leaving Michael and Cassidy pulled me aside.
"Hey, since your new and all, we want to give you an official welcome to Mason Valley." Michael said.
"Uh, thanks but I don't think I can..." I trailed off.
"Oh come on even Margot is going to be there." Said Cassidy.
"Wait. Where are we going again?" I said confused.
"To the old warehouse, once every month the students get together there and make bets." Said Cassidy excitedly.
"Bets?"
"Yea, like who's gonna win homecoming queen or 'I bet $50 that You cant get so and so's number.' You know stuff like that. It's like our super bowl."
"Uhhh, ok. I'll go." I said interested. It might be fun to watch what these kids bet on.
I got into Margot's car and said to her, "I wanna go the the warehouse to watch the bets."
She looked at me, "Oh for heavens sake did Michael and Cassidy tell you? They are really into that whole betting thing so is most of the students but you don't need to get sucked in too Kaylee."
"Oh, no I'm not going to bet. I just wanna watch."
"Fine but your sticking with me."
And to think just because I made that one decision to go, my entire year was about to be turned upside down.
