The bus arrived. Stan got on. He placed some coins in the designated slot and searched for an empty row. Once he found it, he sat in it. During the ride, he took out his pink colored iPhone and flipped through the pictures he took since this morning: the pouch his grandfather used to smuggle marijuana with, the bowl of fresh human blood his mother used to make her lips stand out on her canvas colored face, the teenage couples who made out behind the trees while the old folks were too busy criticizing Henrietta. While flipping through the pictures, one stuck out to him in particular, Henrietta smiling while jumping into a homemade pile of leaves with Francis. Stan started at the picture for hours. As soon as the bus reached the last stop, the driver announced for everyone to get off. So Stan did. Just as he was about to set foot outside though, the driver asked, " Hey Buddy, what's your name? You look familiar."
"Loretta," he answered. "That is who I am."
Author's Notes
1. The title of the story is based on an essay written by DariaMorgendorffer, the main protagonist of "Daria", in an episode called"The Lost Girls," which is about her spending a day with a narcissistic editor named Val.
2. In Monty Python's "Life of Brian", there is a minor character named Stan, upon who Henrietta's brother is based off of, who wanted to become a woman named Loretta and have babies.
