Part 4

The drive home felt like it took forever. The silence was killing me.

Jahr- "You should try to relax. Your as stiff as a board. I'm not gna attack you."

I tried my best to try and relax but for the life of me I just felt tensed being in the car again with Jahr and we were stuck together for an hour. I caught Jahrs' friends eye in the mirror again and he flashed me a smile which quickly disappeared when Jahr looked at him in the mirror. His other mate spoke up.

"So your Nathaniel's sister in law? I met your sister once. She was a stunner. Sorry to hear about your loss."

I was stunned by his soft spoken voice. He was such a big guy I expected a demanding voice out of him. A gentle giant was what he was. I turned my head to give him my full attention before I answered him.

"Thank you for your comforting words. I miss her."

He smiled with a slight nod and extended his hand.

"I'm Dommie"

I placed my hand out to shake his.

"Ria"

The car suddenly sped up making my body jolt in my seat. I looked at Jahr whose jaw was clenched tight.

Jahr- "My foot slipped."

Dommie made a disbelieving sound.

I faced the front again.

We made the rest of the drive in silence. It wasn't long until we were pulling into Nathaniel's driveway. I turned to Jahr a little confused.

Jahr- "I need to see my cousin first. Thought you'd wanna see the kids.."

He turned the ignition off and got out. Nathaniel came out the front door a little stunned to see me sitting in the car.

Jahr- "Your call sounded urgent so I came here first."

Nathaniel nodded and walked up to the car.

Nathaniel- "Hey sis, the kids are still up if you wanna go see them. I'm just gna talk with the boys for a bit."

He opened my door leaving me no choice but to step out. If that isn't a silent order then I don't know what was. I gave him a kiss hello and sprinted inside to see the kids but not before I heard Nathaniel snap at Jahr.

"What the hell were you thinking of talking to Ria while you were doing a Run? If people saw you they'd think she's connected to you...."

The rest of Nathaniel's words faded as I walked in the door. I frowned wondering for the first time what Jahr and his friends were doing in the city.....

Niva- "Aunty Riiaaa!"

She called out as I walked through the door. I held my arms out for her to leap into as she cuddled me like she did her mum. A slight pang in my chest as the thought of Shaye crossed my mind..

Nive- "Aunty you wna watch Frozen with us?"

"Again?!"

Her bottom lip began to quiver, mastering those puss-n-boot eyes..

"Ah..nivaaa..I..."

Looking around frantically trying to come up with an excuse I felt her little hands slip into mine as she tugged me towards the living room where Noah sat already planted on the couch. I shook my head knowing that Noah wouldn't be sitting here either if he didn't have too. Giving him a sympathetic smile he turned his head the other way as if he was sitting their on his own free will.
