Chapter 1 - Two Worlds Collide

"Momma, do you think i'll get a part?"

I ask mom as we stand in line for our auditions for Barney & Friends. She wasn't paying attention. She was talking to some lady behind us. I've never seen her before. She had a girl sitting on the floor coloring. I walk over and sat down beside her.

"What you doing?" I ask her

"Coloring." She responded

"What you coloring?" I ask looking down at her picture.

"Clifford the Big Red Dog." She responded with a smile.

"Can I color?" I ask

She look at me and smiled "Yeah, here." she said while ripping out a page from the coloring book and handing it to me. We was sitting in between our moms while they was talking. Me and her was laughing and having fun. I think we was becoming friends.

"Hey, What's your name?" I ask and stop coloring and look at her

"My name is Selena." She said looking at me, "What's yours?"

"My name is Demetria but I don't like going by that so people call me Demi." I explained

"How old are you?" She ask.

"7" I said while holding my fingers up to prove it.

"Me too!" She said with excitement putting her hand up for a high five. I high five her and we giggled.

I started coloring again. "Where you from?" I ask

"I'm from Grand Prairie." Selena said trying to pronounce it which made me laugh.

"I'm from Dallas, so you don't live far away." I said with a great big smile.

"Nope." She responded stand up with her coloring book in her hand and picking up her crayon box with her other hand.  I stand up and followed her as the line kept moving.

We got inside the building and sat on the floor in there and continue coloring.

"Hey, can I borrow your jacket?" She ask with her arms around her like she is cold.

"Yeah, here." I said taking it off and handing it to her. She put it on and started coloring a new picture.

Later that day...

"Selena it's your turn." Her mom said, well I think it's her mom. I don't know we haven't got to learn much about each other well enough yet. She went in and a few mintues later she came back out. I look at her as she came threw the doors. Wow, she has a great body. I change the subject.

"Did you get it?" I ask her holding her hands.

"I don't know. They said they will call." Selena explained.

"Demi, it's your turn." Momma said touching me carefully on my back pushing me forward.

"I'll wait out here for you." Selena said while standing in front of her mom.

I went in and was nervous at first. I was afraid of them judging me because my weight and me wearing glasses. I perform for them giving it my all with no hesitation.

"Thank you. We'll call you next week." He said with a smile that didn't show no teeth.

I smiled and left the room. I told my mom what he said. Then I ran over to Selena and hug her.

"What'd they say?" she ask.

"Samething they told you." I told her.

"I'm hungry." Selena said looking up at her mom.

"Yeah, me too." I said to my mom.

Her and my mom look at each other and my mom said. "Y'all want go eat at McDonalds?"

"Sure." Selena mom said. Me and Selena got excited and we went to McDonalds and played in the little play area. We got done and we started walking to our vehicles. "Hey mom." I said pulling on her pant leg, "Can Selena come over sometime?" She look at Selenas mom and ask "Where do y'all live?" 

"Grand Prairie." Selans mom said.

"Ok, we live in Dallas so that's like a 20 mintue drive. So we'll see." Mom said looking at me.

Selanas mom hand my mom a peice of paper that had her number on it.

"Bye." I said while hugging Selana.

"Bye, see you later." Selena said while letting go and walking to the back door of their car.

I got on mine and we left. On the way home I was hoping me and her both got the part because that would be 10 times more fun. When I got home I went and told Eddie everything, I don't look at him as my step father. I look at him as his my true father. He was holding Maddie in his arms. She is only a few months old. I'm already loving her so much. After I told him I went and told Dallas which I shared a room with. She was excited for me. Later, she turned the TV on and I went and laid down on the bed and fell asleep. I wore myself out today.
