The Cinderella of Cherry Park

Chapter 7

          I walked into school with Jordan. We went to our lockers, but unfortunately hers is on the 2nd floor and mine is on the 3rd. I walk up to my locker and see Julie next to it. I start walking away, but then she looks at me. And I start running.
       Julie POV
       I turn my head as Anna starts running away. Nice try, I think as as Hazel and Jasmine stop her. They grab her arms and she screams "Get your hands off me you dirty little traitors!" I stand there chewing gum with an innocent expression. I liked watching her struggle. Finally I said "Let go of her." Hazel and Jasmine immediately dropped Anna. She stood up, but she didn't try to run. Smart of her. "What do you want Julie?" She spat at me. "Just wanted to say hi." I said smiling innocently. "Oh cut the crap." She snapped. Fine. If she was going to be like that, good. Two can play at that game. I signaled for Hazel and Jasmine to leave. "Listen Anna," I said sweetly "I didn't appreciate your little joke the other night. I know you had someone with you, but I don't know who. So, I'll give you an option. Tell me who helped you or suffer the punishment alone." I said. "Sure." She snorted. "I'm never telling you." She sneered at me. "Well, let's see how that works out for you." I said.
Anna POV
I lost consciousness as Julie brought her heel down on my face for the third time. At least they were wedges and not stilettos. Those would've been a lot more painful. I was aware of the blood trickling out of my nose and down my face. I thought about Jordan waiting for me in Health. I opened my eyes to see Julie shove me into a closet. I heard a lock click and I panicked. I was going to be la- beep. Dang it, I thought, I'm already late. I waited in the closet, yelling and screaming every time the bell rang. Why was nobody going to their lockers? Julie probably threatened them, I thought bitterly. Once I heard something. Quiet footsteps outside the door. I banged the door and screamed and heard a shocked little scream. I was finally getting out of there. "Who's in there?" asked a demanding voice. Piper. She wouldn't let me out if she knew it was me. So I put on a fake girly voice: "Oh my god, Pipes!" I trilled. "Can you, like, totally let me out? That skunk bag Anna stuffed me in here." There was a moment of silence in which I doubted myself. What human being talks like that? But I did an amazing impression of Julie apparently because Piper said in her usual shrill girly voice "Omg! She is such a skunk bag." She agreed. I heard a lock click. How she got it unlocked, I had no idea. Julie probably gave all her minions a set of stolen keys to, like, everywhere in the building. Or some other twisted plan. "Jules-" Piper said before passing out from my punch to the stomach. Oh my god!!!!!! I thought. I just punched someone. That was a first. I ran past Piper's unconscious body and towards the 1st floor Health class. I walked into class with smirks from Julie and her followers. I asked Mrs. Rallevan if I could go to the nurse and rushed there after my positive reply. I run in and say to Nurse Peggy "Mrs. P my nose.." She turned to look at me, immediately putting down the ice pack she was using on Alli Mohaan. "Oh, honey, what happened?" Mrs. Peggy asked sympathetically. "Nothing..." I muttered. Julie was not getting a reaction from me. She couldn't know she'd gotten to me. Nurse Peggy couldn't hear me because she was rummaging through her well-organized medicine cabinet. She came back, with a small medicine vial filled with a sickly purple liquid. "Pain reliever." She said simply. I watched Mrs Peggy move around her room gracefully. First her computer, typing some numbers and letters into a search bar. Then to the phone. "Hello? Mrs Levengue? Yes, it's Mrs Peggy. I'm good how are you? Good. So you're daughter Anna got hurt and-" She lowered her voice so I couldn't hear. "Alright. Tell Mike I said hi. You too. Alright, ba-bye." She hung up, and swiveled her chair to face me. "Well?" I asked politely. "Your mother is on her way." Mrs Peggy said simply.
