District Court

Courtroom No. 1 ~ Niamh Tenniswood's POV

- Witness Testimony -

- Soreth-Spees, Amm and Elltone -

"I've already said I don't know a damn thing about the victims."

"I'd never met any of them before, nor had I heard of them."

"So they sent a letter threatening lives. So what? What does that change?"

"Their plan didn't work, anyway. Nobody that was mentioned in that letter died."

The testimony was short indeed, but the ringing and white-hot pain in my head only got worse.

"Niamh...?!" I heard Vito gasp. "What's the matter?!"

"The... discord...!" I managed to say. "It's... so powerful...!"

"What can you pick up?!" Chrysalis exclaimed.

I listened for a few moments, picking out each seperate emotion I could hear. "H-Happiness... anger... shock... fear... all at once!"

"How is that even possible?!" Chrysalis' eyes widened.

"Need to... examine... testimony..." I said through gritted teeth.

"Ah! Right!" Chrysalis turned to the judge. "The defense wishes to analyse the testimony!"

"Analyse...?" Chief Prosecutor Bespoke repeated.

"You mean that psychology thing, don't you?" the judge asked. "Then go ahead, Ms. Tenniswood."

I opened my eyes, attempting to shift my focus onto the analysis. My main concern was the feeling of joy; why would Nevada of all people feel that at a time like this?

"I've already said I don't know a damn thing about the victims."

"I'd never never met any of them before, nor had I heard of them."

"So they sent a letter threatening lives. So what? What does that change?"

"Their plan didn't work, anyway. Nobody that was mentioned in that letter died."

*GOT IT!*

Even though I had located where the joy was coming from, I still didn't understand what it meant. "Could you explain something to me, witness?"

"Depends on what it is." Nevada replied.

"You said that nobody in the letter died, which is indeed correct. But what I want to know is... why would you be happy about that?"

"Wh-What?!" Nevada growled.

"Why would you, of all people, feel relieved that the victims' plan failed?" I questioned.
