It’ll get better they sayyou wont always feel so empty. The pain that you wish was there is driving you insane. You can’t even feel yourself slipping into a routine. The blood trickles down you fresh cut. “No one will notice. No one will careyou say to yourself silently. It doesn’t even hurt anymore. You have become calloused to the pain of the blade slicing the shrill sheet of skin or the bruises that emerge in spontaneous places on your fragile body.  Not a drop of wetness reaches your eyes anymore.

"Stop! David stop what the hell are you doing?" I heard the cries from my best friend Kris shout. I felt numb as his fist came in contact with my face again. I shut my eyes in anticipation for his foot to kick me in the gut.

"Kris? What are you doing here? It's not what it looks like!" David spat out as I heard his footsteps speed up after Kris. I was too scared to open my eyes. I squeezed them so tightly it burned. She wasn't supposed to see me in this vulnerable state. I was so fatigued I didn't notice the sound of panting coming towards me in the alley. I slowly opened my eyes to be met by a hooded figure. Their large arms swooped me up in their arms in bridal position. Then everything went black.
