As I drove into the parking lot the next night, I noticed that Mike's car wasn't there yet. Shit, I can't start the night without him! Ugh, I could barely handle one door, much less two doors plus a camera! I was totally screwed. I just decided to wait outside the building for him to show up. Luckily, he pulled up right before I gave up and walked in. He walked out of his car mumbling curses under his breath and ran towards the building. He noticed me for once standing near the entrance. As soon as he saw me, his eyes lit up with what I could only assume was relief.
"Thank god you didn't go in there alone!" Mike exclaimed, picking me up in a big bear hug. "Foxy would've handed your ass to you." He noticed that he was currently hugging me, blushed slightly, and put me down. He mumbled an apology under his breath. I thanked him for his concern, feeling myself blush a little as well. We both walked into the pizzeria slightly red-faced, but returned to normal color upon entering the office.
"Who's Foxy, anyway?" I asked. "Oh, Foxy's this animatronic that likes to mess things up. If you watch him too little or too much, he runs at you. He wasn't active last night, so I didn't bother to tell you about him."
"Shit, I forgot to bring a chair!" I exclaimed. "That's fine, I'm sure that you've learned your lesson. I'll let you get the hang of Foxy tonight, so that we can switch back and forth between cams and doors. I'll just do the doors; DO NOT switch the camera from the Cove, okay? He won't be too much trouble this early in the week, but it's good practice for later nights." Did this guy ever simplify things? Right when you think he's done talking, he realizes that he forgot something and describes it in detail at the end... Might be all that coffee getting to him.
"So lemme get this straight; Foxy runs, and the others teleport?" "Pretty much." "Do they have some sort of pattern?" "Oh, shit! How could I forget something like that?
"Foxy and Bonnie come from the left, Chica and Freddy from the right. Freddy doesn't show up until tomorrow, though, so don't worry about him. Chica and Bonnie stop at the doors first, but Foxy and Freddy barge in as soon as you turn your head away from their respective doors."
I nodded and continued to check the Cove every once in a while. Mike was still running back and forth between doors, checking the lights every time he switched and closing the door every once in a while. I don't know how he didn't get scared in the least by the animatronics or get tired at all; I jumped every time someone came to the door and I was half falling asleep just watching him go back and forth.
Bonnie's third appearance scared me so much that I forgot my job and went into shutdown. Foxy then took that chance to run down the hall. When you finally remembered to check it, Foxy was gone and his classic sign was replaced by one simply saying "IT'S ME".
"SHIT!" I yelled. Mike didn't process what was happening until Foxy was at the door. Knocking. I had dived at the door and closed it just in time.
"Jesus," Mike said. "You might not be as much of an amateur as I thought you would be!"
The 6AM alarm began to beep immediately afterwards. "Buh bye, Mike!" I said on the way to my car. He waved and said, "Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night! Try to get some sleep, Wednesday's a doozy!"
After he drove off, I breathed a sigh of relief. That was terrifying and exhausting, but there was some part of me that was looking forward to work. What the hell would I look forward to?
