My name is Ashley Santos. I am not very popular and no, I don't have any friends. I always try to talk to people, but mostly my missions fail. I'm mostly bullied by a girl named Leslie Brown. She is the queen of the school, with her beautiful face and golden blonde hair. She is perfect in every way. Her boyfriend is another story. He has brown hair and a face good enough to make all the girls fall to the ground when he walks by. He's nice and the captain of the football team. I liked him since 3rd grade, but never found a way to talk to him. I forget what language to speak when I talk to any boy, even Ugly Harry. He picks his nose and farts 24 7. No need to describe anything. I slowly sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes. My alarm clock kept screaming so I banged it so hard I might have caused an earthquake. I got out of bed and stood in front of my mirror. I wasn't to crazy about my appearance, but today was different. I was getting my braces off. I've had braces since 6th grade and now I'm in 8th grade, which means no more metal mouth. I was so excited I start dancing around my room until my feet told me to stop. I walked into the bathroom and took a quick hot shower. I changed into a pair of skinny jeans with a light pink shirt with a pair of brown boots. I popped in my contacts and ran down the stairs into the kitchen, where the aroma of scrambled eggs and bacon filled my nostrils. "Yum!" My mom turned around, looking disgusting. She had black circles around her dull brown eyes, which was red, and her hair was messed up as if she hasn't heard of a comb or a brush. "How bout a good morning?" She mumbled, then slowly turned back to the stove. I sat down slowly and stared at my mom. She was NEVER like this. In the morning she would be bouncing around, smiling with her deep dimples, that shine with her bright brown eyes. Her hair would look flawless, brushed and healthy. "Hey mom, uh what's up?" She turned around again and places a plate of eggs, bacon and pancakes in front of me, then sat down. She looked down at the wooden table then at me. She slowly put a hand on my shoulder, then she burst into tears. I quickly walked around the table and hugged her. "Mom! Oh my god... What's wrong?... Why are you cry... Mom!" She kept crying repeatedly which wet my sleeve. My mom was bursting into tears, and I had no clue why. I hugged her for what seemed like hours, then she stopped crying. "Your father..... He, he....... DIED!" Then the crying started again. I stopped moving. My heart froze. My eyes slowly start watering, then, I was just like my mom. Crying. Crying. Crying. We spend 10 minutes crying, hugging, and a bunch of tissues. I pulled out of my moms hug and rubbed my nose. "Come on, you have to go to school." I got up and grabbed my backpack. I hugged and gave my mom a kiss and walked out of the house. I start walking to school when I noticed. I wasn't excited to get my braces off anymore.
