Chapter 1; Dancing To The Same Tune

The morning, Baltimore air is brisk, chilly, and snappy. The wind is blowing, the clouds are creeping across the sky, and the sun is slowly climbing it's way up to rest on its pedestal. It's the kind of morning that changes everything, the kind of morning that induces change and difference. Liam walks down the sidewalk with a spring in his step and a sizzle in his whistle, excitment following him like a mushroom cloud.

Just one day of dreaded school, two single periods of geometry with Paul, in then he's home free to dance his way onto the Corny Collin's Council, and eventually the show. It was the day him and his best friend, Niall, had been waiting on for months. A day circled in all different colors on his calender, a day he wore his best blue botton up with white flowers, a pair of pressed black slacks, and his favorite square toed dancing shoes, with padded toes and soles for spinning and strutting.

Liam's long, thin fingers toyed with his gelled hair for an instant, the wind blowing the stiffened locks with difficulty. It was a minor competition between the boys at school, who could have the highest hair, would have the better looking girl. It was simple logic. And Louis Tomlinson, just happened to have the highest hair around.

He was like a statue that man, Liam decided one day when he (accidentaly) found himself staring at the lad. He had high cheek bones, a nice jaw line, and muscles so defined they were practically a dictionary. He was beautiful, and everything Liam and Niall longed to be.

Louis, the boy with the highest hair, was obviously dating the prettiest girl in school, Eleanor Calder, who's hair was so high there are rumored to be birds nesting in there, birds only found in remote regions of New Guinea. She was the girl, birds longed to be, and the girl blokes longed to be with.

They were the star couple. They were also the star couple on the Corny Collins show, Baltimores favorite TV show. A show in which young girls and boys, dance to their hearts content. It was all Liam wanted in life, a spot on the Corny Collin's show was practically what everyone wanted with life.

But Liam knew he had a good chance of getting it. He was a nice looking bloke with brunnete hair, and brown eyes, and plump lips on a thin face. But what he could do well, better than anyone he'd ever competed against, is dance.

He just knew he could go on that bloody show and dance his way to the top, top, top!

Someone bumped shoulders with him in Geometry, shushing him as they slid him a note underneath the wooden table. Liam spread the sheet out on his lap and looked down at the hasty, boyish scrawl.
