~3rd Person (Author's) POV~

Violet's sleep was peaceful. She laid there; laying on her stomach with her head rested on her arms crossed above her head and her newly found weapon (it's a scythe, if you haven't figured it out yet) by her side. The night air was becoming colder and the wind picked up speed, but this did not disturb her slumber. While she slept, a certain winter spirit was flying around, admiring his work for the season. His name was Jack Frost. He was zooming through the air, spreading the goodness of winter, and then slowed down to land on the soft snow. He pulled his hood on over his head and rested on his staff. "Well, that should be it for here." He looks around to take in the beauty of the snow. "Now I just have to--." Then something catches his eyes. "Wait. What's that?" He spotted a patch of green grass among the hills that he had covered with snow about two hours ago. Laying in the grass was a girl, about his age, sleeping soundly on the ground. Curious, he quietly approached her.

When Jack came to the girl's side, he saw that she had a weapon beside her: a scythe. As he was observing the weapon, the girl stirred in her sleep, but didn't wake up. She rolled over on her right side, now facing Jack. He couldn't believe his eyes. The pure innocence and beauty in her face, and the peacefulness she was showing as she slept left Jack speechless.

Suddenly, she began to wince in her sleep. Jack knew that there was only one explanation:

She's having a nightmare

Jack didn't know what to do. He wanted to just shake her awake, but he wasn't sure if he would be able to, not sure if she is a believer or not. To test it out, he carefully reached for her shoulder. The instant that he made physical contact with her, he tried to wake her from her nightmare.

"Hey, wake up." She didn't cease her wincing. "Hey! You're having a nightmare, wake up!" Now he had both hands on her, gently shaking her. But even that wasn't working. Concerned for her, Jack sat down on the grass and pulled her onto his lap and rested her head on his chest. He wrapped his arm around her small frame and she began to relax her muscles. He gently rubbed her back to comfort her. Without any warning, the girl swiftly wrapped her arms around Jack, still frightened from her nightmare. She was shivering violently in his arms and crying. He continued to rub her back and occasionally stroke her two toned hair.

~Violet's POV~

Violet's Nightmare

After drifting off into sleep, I awake up, noticing that I'm in the same field that I've fallen asleep in, but there was no snow. It was warm out and the hills were covered with the softest grass imaginable. I looked down at my clothes and was shocked to see that my dress wasn't torn as much as it was before and my thingy in my right hand. Quickly forgetting about my attire, I turn around and see a small house in the distance. It was a very simple log house with a few windows and a little porch with a swing. Then I look down at my feet and I was filled with panic as I stared at the large shadow on the ground.

Without warning, I felt a sharp pain in my back. I heard my clothes rip on my back and I fell on my knees. Then I heard a low growl and whipped my head around to see a massive Grizzly Bear. I quickly stood up and faced the bear. I could feel the large amounts of my blood dripping down my back. I clutched the weapon tight with both of my hands on it now and took a swing at the bears abdomen. He growled (or whatever you call the sound that bears make when they're p***ed off) from the pain. I smiled in success that I caused that monster some pain, but my smile went away when I saw that it was going to strike again. In a split second decision, I swung my thingy at the bear, hitting the same spot and killed the bear instantly, but, at the same time, the bear swung it's bear paw and slice four gaping, deep cuts in my chest.
