Prologue - The Boy at the Front Gate

I looked out my window it was the first day we had been living in Texas And I was nervous since I had left all my friends in Michigan. So now I was spending the summer line with no friends.

I noticed a boy standing by the gate, he had sandy/ Carmel coloured hair and was wearing a dark blue shirt. I smiled. He was cute. I shut the curtains and got dressed in a perfect summer outfit. I was wearing a blue shirt that said swag on it and a black and green SnapBack that said Dream on it. I was also wearing a sea blue shorts and wearing some nice sea blue scatter shoes.

I grabbed emy iPhone from my nightstand and quickly put an adorable stitch case on it and plugged in my headphones. I dashed down the stairs grabbing my custom scar board that said " Dare to Believe in Dreams" my personal saying (A/N that actually is my personal saying) and in the bottom it said "Music is the way to my heart"

I didn't know how to skateboard but it was in my summer bucket list so I decided to grab my board and safety equipment (helmets, knee pads) and such and stuffed them into my shoulder bag and clipped the helmet to the side.

I wrote a note for my mom on the table saying I was going out since she was still asleep. As I walked out the house I noticed the boy still standing there. I ignored him and decided to try my luck at going down the street on my board. Luckily I made it all the way down to the ice cream shop around the corner.

I ordered a small twist and went outside to sit on the bench. I noticed my surroundings it was nice and green with plenty if flowers in the gardens and a sweet shop was across the street. I decided to go over and pick up some cookies for the family.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw the boy come down the street in a long board as I entered the shop. I looked at the array of backed goods and candies that brightened the place.

I walked up to a woman about 25 and started to place my order. She smiled as she put the sweets into a box for me. As I handed her the amount do she started to talk to me.

"You must be new around town," she said counting my change, her reddish blonde hair boning up and down as she swayed her head to the music that was playing in the shop.

"Yeah," I managed to reply, being the shy person I am.

" Well Im Claire," she said out stretching her hand. I shook it giving her a nice firm but soft grip letting her now I was a hard worker since I would need a job in the future.

The bell rang signalling a new customer.

I smiled,"Skylar."

"Nice name," she said handing my my change and then the box of sweets.

"Well I'd better be going, nice meeting you," I said leaving the shop. I noticed the boy leaning against the counter in the shop as I left. Just as I was going out of ear shot I heard Claire talking to him.

"She's nice, you should get to now her."

"Yeah maybe I should," said the boy.

"Better hurry someone like her will go fast round here-" I didn't ketch the last bit as I was to far away. I set my board Down in the ground and put my helmet on then I took off for home with the sweets And a large smile on my face.
