Have you ever wondered how your life would have been if something has never happened. Like if you didn't ditch your best friend for your then boyfriend, you guys would be still be best friends right now. Or the time when you were sneaking out and didn't know that your parents would put you in lock down mode for the rest of the year if you got caught. Well
I sure do. All the time.~*~*~*~
It was a Summer day at Harbor Side. I was in my room getting ready for the day ahead of me. Suddenly I heard someone yelling."Mona!" I heard my mom call from downstairs.
"Coming!" I yell back. I take a look in the mirror satisfied with my long wavy dark hair and brown eyes. I walk down the stairs to see what my mom wanted.
"Hi honey," my mom says when she sees me. My mom is very pretty with long dark hair like me. On the other hand my dad has blonde hair and so does my little brother. Weird right? For my family it's not.
"Where is Dad? And Sam?" I ask now wondering where those two are.
"They are upstairs getting ready," my mom says.
"For what?" I couldn't help but ask. Well I did have the right to know.
"We are all going out for lunch and dropping off your brother afterward to his football practice,"
At that same time my brother comes running down. Wait, is he wearing khakis? Wow, that's a first and probably the last, too.
"Nice khakis," I say as he comes into the kitchen.
"Shut up!" He snaps back.
"Sam!" My mom snaps at him. Good, he deserves it.
"Where is my football bag? Ugh, coach is going to kill me if I don't have my uniform this time! I need that bag," Sam keeps talking to himself. "Oh wait it's right here," he says after a minute.
"What you need is a brain," I tell him.
"Mona, do you want to come to lunch with us?" Mom asks me even though she already knows the answer.
"Mom, I have a huge vocabulary test coming up on every word we learned so far. I think I'll stay home," no way I'm taking the chance of failing my test.
~*~*~*~
"How many tests is Mr. Holmen going to give us?" My best friend, Mackenzie, complains on the phone.
"I don't know! I swear to god, that all my brain cells are going to be gone by the end of the year," I tell her. Our school Harbor Side High isn't one of the most richest school.
Suddenly the door bell rings.
"Hold on a second Mac, someone is at the door," I put Mackenzie on hold as I walk downstairs to see who is at the door.
"Mac, I'm going to downstairs at the door and if don't hear from me, call the police,"
"Just keep your phone on, I'll stay on the line," I hear her say.
I look out the window to see who it is. I see a policeman standing on the front porch. How ironic. I start wondering why he is there. Then I start panicking. I mean if you saw a police officer in your front porch and you didn't do anything, wouldn't you be panicking, too?
Even though I'm not allowed to open the door for anyone without my parents home, being the rebel I am, I still do.
Once I open the door I look at the police officers face. I couldn't quite read the expression on his face.
"Um... Can I help you sir?" I ask politely.
"Are you Miss Mona Kahn," The police officer asks. And why do care...?
"Um... Yes," I mumble not knowing where this conversation was going.
"Well Miss, I need to talk to about... something very important," the police officer said very seriously. At this point I turn the phone off not caring if Mac was waiting for me. I got a sick feeling in my stomach.
I took him to the living room and offered some coffee. He politely refused and got right back to the point.
"Miss Kahn, I don't know how to say this without hurting you," he starts. Just say if old man! "But your family died in a car accident,"
My mind completely blanks.
"What....," I make out faintly.
"I'm sorry, but they are gone," the police officer said again.

And that was the end of life as I knew it.
Author's Note:
Hey peeps! What do you think of the first chapter? I'm kind of nervous. This is my first story on wattpad! Well thanks for reading! I will be having questions in each chapter and you can answer them if you want.⚠️ I am no J.K Rowling! I can't right like a best selling author, but I sure hell will do my best to. Please keep your negative comments to yourself. Like the fortune cookie always says "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all," or something like that. I'm not really good at memorizing things unless it's song lyrics! Thanks! ⚠️
