Chapter 2
The boy noticed Emily who was intently looking at them while they work in their field. "Hello, young lady, are you new in town?" the old man called out to her. Emily went near them and said "Yes,mister..." The man laughed hysterically, Emily knew that time that the old man was a very jolly person. The man said " Don't be so formal, young lady, you can call me Bert " while smiling. The man insisted his son to intoduce himself to Emily by pushing him forward.
He first wiped his hand covered in mud and offered it to Emily and said " I'm sorry, my hands...By the way, I'm Alexander.. Alexander Stephens. " Emily held out her hand to shake her hand with Alexander's but, rain started to fall. Alexander's charm immediately caught Emily's attention. Bert made them run as fast as they could to enter the Stephens' house. An old lady welcomed them into the house and offered them towels and hot beverages to drink for the meantime.
The old woman exclaimed " What a very beautiful young lady we have here! What is your name?" while smiling at her gently. " I'm Emily Harrison, we moved into town yesterday..." Emily said. Alexander immediately made himself remember Emily's name. The old woman's face became brighter and asked " So, you received our little gift. How was it? ". Emily replied " I drank some of it before I slept last night, it was very lovely. " The rain stopped and Emily thanked the Stephens and went home. She was scolded by her parents because, she came home soaking wet. She didn't have the chance to even tell the wonderful things that happened in town while she was gone.
