The Wall Between Us (Lucius Wagner x Reader)

~Chapter 6~

(Y/n) reached for the cereal. And she didn't feel like climbing. Lucius just watched intently and impatiently. He looks at his watch and rolls his eyes walking towards her. He stood behind her reaching for the cereal for her.

She stopped when she felt his chest make contact with her back. She could feel the broadness of his chest from his vest and dress shirt. His scent lingered and it made her blush by all this. Her breathing got slightly heavier. She felt herself getting hot.

Lucius has the cereal in hand and gives it to her.

"Th-Thanks, Lucius."She says.

He gives her a single nod as she puts the cereal in the cart. After all that, they walk to the cashier. Lucius watched intently as each item was being scanned with each BEEP!

(Y/n) looks at him. Perfect jaw line. Dark circles under his eyes. His jet black hair brushed to the side. It looked so soft to her. His pale skin.

Then dark brown eyes, slightly red, meets hers. Lucius catches her staring at him and glares at her. She looks away blushing madly. His glare softens and looks back at the items being scanned.

'What's wrong with me? I'm so fucking messed up! You can't think of your rival like this! But...'

She looks back at Lucius.

'There's something about that's... That's so fascinating. He just somehow makes... My interest in him grow more and more. What in the world is this feeling?'

"That would be $91.67."The cashier says.

Lucius takes out his wallet.

"No, Lucius. Let me."She says stopping him. She takes out her wallet. Lucius shakes his head and surprisingly gently puts her wallet down. He gave her a look, almost saying,"Let me."

"Awe. Aren't you two the cutest couple!"The cashier says.

She blushes and Lucius lightly blushes.

"N-No. That's not how i-it is."She says,"We're just friends. Right, Lucius?"She asks him. Slightly hesitated as she said friends.

Lucius looks at her for a moment then nods.

'Friends? That's hard to believe.' Lucius thinks to himself.

Lucius paid for the groceries and they both walk out with bags of groceries in their arms. They waited at the spot where they were dropped off waiting for Michael. The wait was silent, until (Y/n) spoke up.

"Lucius..."(Y/n) says.

Lucius looks at her. But she doesn't look up at him,"Wh-When I said w-we were just friends..."

'Yes? Go on.' Lucius says in his head. He could feel his heart slightly racing.

"I a-actually did mean it... Friends but nothing more."She says.

Lucius feels his heart sink a little. And he nods. Since he couldn't take out his notepad, he puts his index finger on her hand, tracing out words.

She catches on. He said,"Me too". She looks up at him, and slightly smiles. He sees this. He doesn't react. But (Y/n) could tell he was kinda smiling on the inside.

Soon Michael finally arrives. They out the groceries in the car and sit in the back seat.

They arrive home and bring the groceries into the kitchen. Charles and Nancy were there and they see Lucius and (Y/n) come in.

"So, kids. Did it go well?"Charles asks. Mostly looking at (Y/n).

(Y/n) nods,"Yeah. It went well actually."

Charles smiles,"That's good. So are you two good now?"Charles asks. The two young adults nod.

Nancy smiles,"I'm so glad you both are getting along!"She says giving (Y/n) and Lucius a hug. They both hug back.

"The maids will get dinner ready. Lucius, why don't you and (Y/n) go and do something while supper is being prepared?"Nancy asks.

(Y/n) looks at Charles, he gives her a single nod. She looks at Nancy and nods. Lucius does too. Lucius holds onto (Y/n)'s fingertips gently and drags her out of the kitchen.

As they leave, Nancy holds her hands to her heart,"Awe. They look so adorable together. Do you think they'll actually get to be more than friends, Charles?"Nancy asks.

"Heh. I hope so. Boy needs to start socializing. Especially with a girl."Charles says. Nancy nods agreeing with him.

As Lucius dragged (Y/n) out by her fingertips, she blushed madly. Surprised by his gentleness. And her heart felt as if it was going to launch out her chest. He took her to his room.

They arrive. She looks around and sits down onto the side of his bed.

"Nice room..."He says. He gives her a single nod and walks over to his desk. He sits down and looks at her intently. She shifted a bit feeling a bit uncomfortable.

"So um, Lucius."She says.

He looks at her.

"I was kinda thinking... Maybe... We should take a break from this whole competition thing."She says looking down at her hand and fiddling with them.

She hears footsteps walk over to her. He lifts her chin up so that she was looking at him dead in the eyes. A blush creeps across her cheeks. He looks at her, and nods slowly.

"I mean, we've been going on with this thing for three months and... Really... Um..."She tried to look away, but couldn't since she was like a prey in the grasp of a predator. She felt like the prey. And he was like the predator. She gulped.

'Why I can't look away? I'm trying to resist. But why am I being pulled in like this? What is this feeling? What is Lucius doing to me? I know it's not devil's magic. But it has to be something...'

They stared at each other for awhile. His face then closes in on hers. She could feel his hot breath on her lips. Just when their faces were an inch close to one another,"Lucius! (Y/n)! Supper's ready."Nancy says outside of Lucius's door.

Lucius notices how close he was and immediately pulls back looking away from her. His face a blushing mess. And so was (Y/n)'s face.

"C-Coming!"She says. They both walk out of his room. Not looking at each other in the eye.

They sit down to eat. (Y/n) was seated next to Lucius. That was her seat since she moved in. As they ate, she could've sworn that her and Lucius's knees were touching each other's. But didn't say anything.

After dinner, both Lucius and (Y/n) walked up to their rooms. When they got to her room, (Y/n) looks at Lucius,"Goodnight, Lucius."She says. He gives her a single nod. She gives him a small smile and goes into her room.

The door closes behind her. Lucius sighs quietly and was about to walk away. Until (Y/n) comes back it and pecks Lucius's cheek.

Lucius's eyes slightly widen and he blushes. She slightly giggles and blush. She walks away,"Goodnight."She says.

Lucius looks at her, still blushing, and nods. She blushed and closed the door.

Lucius lightly touched the spot where she kissed him on the cheek. He smirks slightly.

'I think I might be falling for my rival...' He thinks to himself and walks away to his room.

(Y/n) hears Lucius walk away. She sighed and slid her back down against the door, sitting on the ground.

"What is this feeling?"She asks herself. She chuckled,"I think it might be love... I don't even know anymore."She sighs as she laid in her bed and fell asleep peacefully.
