Chapter 1: The Meeting
I walked down the hallways to see if I can find anybody. This is probably a prank from my sis but I'm used to it. I hear noises above me and I'm not afraid of anything.
I pull out my ipod and pop my skull-candy headphones, listening multiple songs from Avril Lavigne. I started to turn around when I suddenly got to a dead end and saw a shadow behind a door on my right. I got curious and tried to open the door. The door nob wouldn't budge.
"What the hell?" I muttered cussed words under my breath and when I looked underneath, the shadow was gone. I sighed and started to walk down the hallway again.
Fifteen minutes passed while exploring the mansion and it was not bad. I probably looked inside every room except the one with the stuck doorknob. I thought this house hasn’t been used for more than sixty years.
I took my headphones off and put them in my black purse along with my iPod. I took out my blackberry and called my sis. I heard a click on the third ring but no one answered. Strange
All of a sudden the wind started to blow hard and it became really cold. I wrapped myself with my own arms trying to stay warm and cozy. It didn’t work. I was starting to panic a little when the temperature was dropping. I ran to a random direction to see if I can find a room to stay in for awhile.
I found a master bedroom with a fireplace that was already lit. The decorations was to die for! the bed was on the opposite side of the fireplace with gold-like sheets that looked way to expensive for me to touch it. The carpet was a dark shade of red that matched the color of the flowing curtains that made me lead out to the balcony.
The temperature was just right and had a perfect view of the town, many miles away. I checked my phone to see that the time was almost midnight and decided to call a cab. I put my ipod away and start to feel chilly again and go back inside where it was warm.
I took off my purse and sat on the bed on the far left of my side. I took deep breathes and counted sheep to keep my mind off of things. Counting to the hundreth sheep, I turned to my side and reflected on what I did in the past.
Ever since that accident, I wasn't able to feel emotions anymore and my right eye has turned into a strange different color. Red. Blood red as a demon's eye. Ever since I've gotten this eye, I have seen strange creatures and different kinds of dead people.
"What ghosts? I don't see any," my dad yelled furiously.
"But Dad-!"
"No buts, you're going to see a therapist whether you like it or not!"
After that day, I actually went to see a therapist ever since I was 7 years old. My therapist, Sean, listened to me 2 hours straight, and as usually, he gave me a medication to cool off my brain. It actually worked once in a while, but I looked paler than any other person and my eye would burn in pain, resisting me to stop taking my medication.
I looked at the dancing flames in the fireplace and watched them come alive. Light from the fire going in different directions and creating shadows from obstacles in it's way. What would happen if the fire went out? Would I get cold? I thought. Would I freeze to death? I smiled to myself feeling a slight stream of water fall down against my cheek and felt sleepy thinking: I wouldn't mind dying here. It wouldn't be much of a suprise, since there isn't anyone in this world to miss me when I'm gone.
***FLASHBACK****
A person with dark brown hair held a baby girl, holding a bottle of milk. The woman cooed at her child as her daughter drank the last drop of milk and smiled back at her mother.
"Little Stephanie," the mother whispered into the baby's small ear. "Don't you ever forget, that I will always be with you. In your heart and soul, I will always love you."
The mother stood up and placed little Stephanie in her pink ribboned carriage. The moter begins to rock the carriage the same beating as her heart. The mother kneels down to softly touch the baby's cheek. The mother started to sing a lullaby to the baby.
"As the sun falls
And as the sky's dark
The moon soon shall rise
With the stars bright.
But there's something much brighter
And something more small
Don't you know?
That it is your bright smile
And your big warm heart."
After the mother had ended her song, her legs went limp, and her whole body went falling to the ground. Little Stephanie woke up to only see darkness and began to cry out for her mother who had lost unconcious.
Then the dream ended with the door being swinged open followed by a loud bang.
***
Startled by the sound, I woke up and slowly looked around the room where the noise had come from. She realized it was only just the entrance to the balcony closing and opening from the wind, like a book flipping its page, never ending. I slipped out of the bed introducing the cold onto my warm pale skin, and started walking out to the balcony. I know there's someone there. I can feel a presence. Is it another ghost or goblin? My anxiety heightened knowing that it wasn't human, and I walked closer, not knowing the dangers that might happen to me.
I was close enough to see the creature's back form of a male teenager. I slowly took a couple more steps, light as a feather. The creature's scent was very familiar and intoxicationg to me, which I drew closer. I was already a foot away from him, watching his slight movements from his head to his shoulders. I felt a sensation in my right eye, saying that I already know him. After a moment of silence, I finally broke it, soon regreting it.
"You're not human are you," I said, almost like a whisper. He slowly turned towards me, with wide eyes. I looked deeply into them, shocked to see he had the eyes . My eye started to react once I looked deeply into his confused blood red eyes. I felt a sudden pain on my right eye which almost made me tumble to the ground. I tried to hold my stiff stance, but in the end my legs and arms went limp like a doll's and I was being consumed by the darkness. Before I lost concious, I heard the stranger's voice trying to wake me up by a name I never heard of.
"Stephanie! Stephani-...."
