A rogue wolf entering pack territory is a death sentence. They don't like us and well, we're not supposed to like them. That's why we're rogue after all, to be free and independent, right? That's what I keep telling myself.

Rogue wolves get a bad rep, mainly because they like to attack and pillage the pack members. But a small percentage of us aren't like that and because of it we don't usually last long in the wild.

I patiently stand on the outskirts of the territory waiting for a patrol member to pass by.

"Please, sir. This is a life and death situation, I would like to talk to your Alpha." I say to the first wolf that approaches. I bite my nails to steady my shaking hands. I watch the wolf pace in front of me, twitching his tail with enough force to blow a breeze. Every now and again he snarls in my direction. I remain calm, reminding myself of my peculiar position.

"Follow me." A man says as he approaches, relieving the wolf of his guard duty.

Walking through the streets of this town I catch a few familiar scents. A rush of butterflies swirls in the pit of my stomach, as I grab my head to combat a dizzy spell that threatens to knock me off balance. Taking a sniff again, the scents are faint but I recognize them all the same. A smile plays at the edges of my lips and I blink back tears that threaten to escape.

"Hey Lux," I hear a familiar voice ring in my ears as I cross the threshold of the Pack House. My heartbeat quickens as my eyes dart around the room, looking for him - Dylan. By the sound of his voice, I know he has a sly grin smeared across his face. I see him flinch as my scent fills the room, declaring my presence.

My eyes darken and swirl black as I see a girl sitting on his lap. I twitch with rage, the other half to my soul - my wolf, wants to rip Dylan's throat out. Of course, the only satisfaction I'll get is after I shred that female on his lap to pieces.

My hands ball into tight fists as I fight back my urges as best I can. I close my eyes and take a deep breath to calm my nerves. An intoxicating scent swirls in my nostrils, a familiar and a foreign one.

Both scents are woodsy and masculine, but his is sweeter. Notes of cumin and fresh cut grass drift through the air bringing back painful memories. This new one has spicy undertones and something else, bergamot? I inhale again confirming my suspicion. I open my eyes and focus on Dylan, my lips curl in a silent snarl.

"Alpha, this is the rogue that asked to speak with you." I hear the man who escorted me here say.

Tearing my eyes off the couch, I notice a powerful presence across the room. A tall man, by the looks of it I'd guess he's in his mid-twenties. He's leaning against the doorway to the next room, his arms folded over his bare chest. His blonde hair's damp and his blue eyes are piercing me with a scrutinizing gaze. Power surges through the room and sends shivers rippling through my body. His dominant Alpha is calling to me; I divert my eyes to the ground as warmth rushes to my cheeks.

"Never mind, I'm done here." I say through a clenched jaw.

"Oh come on Lux, you just got here." Dylan whines looking up at me for the first time. Starting to laugh he says, "You may've learned to control your temper, but it's not fooling anyone. I can smell...her...she wants out. You can't lock her up forever." He pulls the girl on his lap closer to him, crushing his lips on hers and a slight moan escapes. A low growl emits from my throat. The man standing next to me startles, but he finds his composure before anyone notices.

"Lux! Learn to live a little and have fun." Dylan says, moaning as the girl touches and grazes his body. With that I turn and walk out the door. But I'm stopped by the Alpha who's now standing in front of me. I catch a whiff of that wonderful spicy scent again, and bergamot. My eyes open wide looking at the man in front of me. It's the Alpha who's tantalizing my senses.
