The pristine lady, her black hair brought tightly into an intricate bun at the back of her head with little ringlets framing her face. She had sparkling blue eyes that had a sense of hatred and caring at the exact same time. Her features were.. Exquisite. Her wealthy parents didn't care about love. Just good breeding. Which I suppose was the acts that made the beautiful, tall, slim bodied, confident young woman that had just stepped out of the dark carriage. The pale skin that was visible under the heavy cloth of her scarlet and black dress, a thing that went to her ankles and then some and almost didn't stop until it reached where her shoulders curved into her neck, and showed wisps of her hand and then of course her elegant face. She grasped a small, ruby red drop bag that held heavy silver coins that was at least enough to last a lower class family three meals every day for a week. The coachman jumped down from his position in front of the carriage and went to the back to get her large trunk which held piles of dresses and makeup pigments and thousands in jewelry. She looked up under the rim of the hat that covered her dark hair and her petal-like lips spread to revel perfect white teeth. She looked around, her head held high, and her back straight, the image of a polite, intelligent woman. She glanced at the palace which was dark and yet full of splendor simultaneously, her twinkling eyes scanning and breaking down each piece of the palace in her mind. She looked up at the sun, which was just below the trees, the sky already darkening and the moon could be visible.
A few moments later a tall, slender man, with dark hair and flashing dark blue eyes, walking out with confidence. The man was dressed extremely nice, in a ruffled dress shirt and a black suit coat with a black bow tie and slacks, his hair falling in his eyes just a little bit. Victoria glanced at him, trying to find a flaw, he was lousy with stature and he walked with a sense of.. Superiority. One man, looking about the same age followed him, less confident as the first one out of the palace. It was clear that they were brothers, the same body build and similar face structures. The first man walked over to Victoria, a small grin on his lips as he walked towards her but stopped about a foot away from her, "Miss. Victoria." He said his voice easy and flowing, his eyes scanning her in a way that made her feel uncomfortable, his eyes kneeing on a piece of skin on her neck that wasn't covered by her dress.
Victoria nodded her head in a elegant manner, curtsying to the man gently, with poise. "That is me." She agreed. "And you must be Prince Harlan." She said and straitened, her body going back to the original position of elegance and posture.
He bowed to her, even though she was no relation to royalty, then taking her hand in his and gently placing a kiss on the back of her hand, eyes locked with hers the entire time. "Yes. Lady Victoria. That is me." He said then gently let go of her hand and turned to the side so she could see behind him. "This is my brother Hugh." He stated then turned back so he blocked the view again, but she could catch a glimpse of Hugh bowing to her as well.
"It is a great honor to have been invited to stay with you, Your Majesty." She said to him with composure. She was indeed, like she said honored, but never. Never would she fain over a boy, or bow at the feet of a prince. She didn't care if he was the king of the world and a guard had a bayonet to her head. She would never do such a thing.
"Ah yes-" he stopped and turned to the coachman, "a butler is ready to bring that up to her room. Just set it by that man in the black suit waiting by the door." Prince Harlan instructed. The coachman nodded and carried the trunk to the man which went inside the castle with her truck quickly. "Yes Lady Victoria. My brother and I wanted to invite a young woman like yourself to stay with us. We chose you." He says and offers his arm to her, which she was trained to never decline, she took his arm, holding onto his arm as they started walking.
Victoria nodded in understanding, as they reached the inside of the castle, his brother tagging behind them. He seemed... Shy. "I see. I thank you, Prince Harlan." She said as he walked her down the hall, Hugh leaving them alone.
"No need to thank me." He said hiding an evil smile. "On another hand. You are our guest and you will be treated with the upmost respect and will receive the highest of luxury as long as we decide to keep you here. But I," he said I, she thought. Not us, not my brother and I, it was just I. She tilted her head a little in confusion but regained herself and listened to him again, "require a list of things you must do while staying here." He said to her. "You will have tea with myself every morning at six o clock and you will met for a walk at three o clock every day." He said.
She looked at him, "of course, your highness." She said to him gently, looking into his eyes which has taken on a new look from the blue she had glimpsed at earlier. His eyes were still blue, but there was a tiny, shimmer of a red circle around the iris. She blinked, thinking she was imagining things and it was gone.
He smiled, perfect white teeth flashing. "This shall be your room Lady Victoria. If there is a problem please let me know. If you wish for a bath or anything at all, pull the string on the wall. A maid will be here quickly for your needs." He said, looking down at her.
Victoria nodded her head and smiled gently at him, "I understand, Prince Harlan. Thank you and I will abide by your rules." She said and curtsied.
He smiled even more at her smiling back and he nodded, "I thank you for staying." He said, bowed and kissed her hand again gently. "I must be going Lady Victoria." He said and kissed her hand another time before letting go, he turned and walked down the hallway, his body straight and he walked with confidence away with her. Leaving her to rest, get ready for dinner.. And think about what she saw with his eyes.
