He took me out to dinner as this over the top fancy resturaunt. I guess it's way better then a dinner at a cheap ass fast food restaurant. So far so good in terms of my and Donovan.
"Enjoying your dinner?"
I looked down at my steak and shrimp and even I was amazed I haven't touched my food yet. It looked very good. But like I said, business.
"About that...I like it to cool before I eat it?"
He chuckled and continued eating his mean. I picked up my fork and lightly jabbed it into my shrimp.
"So Don, tell me more about yourself"
I plopped a shrimp in my mouth and started to chew slowly. He placed his fork horizontally across his plate. By the way, his table manners were exquisite.
"Well I am a level ten spy. I have my own apartment, fairly big. I own my own car, a nice Cadillac. I dabble in the music business, I grew up the only child and helped my mom out with things. I've broken a few rules in the past but my past is my past. Furthermore, I am currently single and I'm looking for a nice strong woman to call mine".
I nodded at all the good things I heard. He was honest to, so another boost point. Oh what the hell am I doing? I'm trying to see this mans secret so I could use it against him into keeping off the recruit.
"Tell me about you, Miss Hyde"
"I am very serious about my work and I hate when guys come in and ruin it. I'm not a lot of fun because I'm usually busy workings. I tend to get up in this business and make sure I'm the best spy I can be so I'm not going to be held back. I'm twenty six years old, I'm not a virgin, I have no kids, and I own my own home up in Staten Island, Todt Hill"
He nodded at the description I gave. Yes, I was one to brag.
"Very interesting"
We sat in silence and ate our dinner. I got bored fast so I decided to break the silence.
"What did that lady mouth to you?"
He chewed his food slower and he's eyes filled with anger. He caught himself in his anger and took a deep breath.
"I don't know I wasn't paying attention to her"
I looked at him and I saw the lies in his eyes. He knew full well what she said he just didn't want to tell me. "Interesting..."
______________
I decided to take up on Donovan's offer to check out his place. He had to run out though so he left me to get comfortable.
"Are you guys going to have sex?" Macy asked, overwhelmed that I decided to take my mind off of work for now. "I don't know. Most likely not. He ran out for a while and it's been ten minutes" I glanced at the time on the control box to his tv.
"Maybe he went to go get condoms?"
"The pharmacy is three minutes away" I pointed out. "Oh. Well I don't know but don't leave! Maybe this could actually be your chance to find love".
I gawked at the idea of love. I don't believe in love. Yeah sure, it might be there for a while but not all the time. Every bubble has to pop. No one is compatible anymore and I doubt Donovan is the one for me.
"Yeah sure Macy".
I heard keys on the outside. "I got to go". He walked in, empty handed. He didn't look like he went shopping but he did shove his phone in his pocket. "Sorry to have kept you waiting. I had a very important phone call with Gi...my old boss" he said. He must think I'm stupid. Obviously he was about to say a random girls name.
"It's alright"
He smiled warmly and sat next to me. "Oh by the way, thank you so much for the dinner. You really didn't have to". "No I wanted to take you out and I was going to ask to go out before the whole neck hold incident. I guess I got a courage boost" he said.
I smiled at his honesty. Takes a lot of guts to admit sometimes your not always brave. I guess it's a guy thing to be the strong, unemotional creature and hide all your emotions. "I'm glad you did".
I pecked him on his cheek. He made his way to kiss my lips but I just brushed passed his. "So um...are you a virgin?" I asked randomly.
"No. I lost mine when I was twelve" he admitted. My eyes widened at the age he lost his v-card. "I lost mine a few days ago" I said.
He raised his eyebrows. "Twenty-six years of pure virginity? What about those wild college parties or those romantic boyfriends?".
"I was always involved in school. I never had boyfriends and I never went to parties. Shoot. I would probably still be a virgin if I wasn't to prove a point". I scratched my arm a bit embarrassed of how lonely my life sounded. "A beautiful woman like you shouldn't be involved in just work. You need to learn how to be involved in life and its rocky roads and beautiful memories. Not look back at just text books and school" he said.
I nodded and my eyes met his. He smiled with kind eyes and I couldn't help but do the same. Maybe I did take Don for granted. He hasn't shown me one bit that he was trying to take me and my spot down.
I leaned in to kiss him and he touched my face gently.
We kissed for a while but then had to pull away to make sure we were on the same page as to what step was to take next.
"Do you like showers?"
I nodded wildly as we frantically ran into the bathroom, wasting the night like teenagers.
