Chapter Twenty Three

I woke up with a jolt, feeling cold and a slight pressure to my body. Looking around, I knew where I was. Why am I here, again? I stood up, attempting to ignore the cold biting at my flesh, painfully. I walked forwards, towards the wall radiating the cold off of it like the sun would with its heat. I frown to myself as I looked at the wall, before placing a hand to it, causing it to disappear, after a wave of hesitation. Instantly, glowing-evil-red eyes stared into my soul, orange fur flickering like flames in the minimal light provided.

'Hello, again' I say, walking towards the cage, placing my hands around the thick, cold, metal bars.

'Get out! Leave my host alone!!' it snarled in anger, barking at me.

'Your host?' I asked in confusion 'Who or what are you talking about?'

'Don't act stupid!!' It barked, annoyed at my cluelessness.

'But I'm not' I sighed, placing my head to the bars.

It gave a sigh, it's hot, breath making my hair dance behind me.

'Stay away from Naruto. You cannot defeat him' Kyuubi growled, attempting to hold back a snarl.

'Wait... Naruto is your host? But... I have to kill him... And his team. Then Zabuza, Haku and I can leave' I murmured, my grip on the bars tightening to some extent.

'You cannot win...' It's voice grunted, as I sat on the ground, my back against the cage, my legs laid out in front of me, my arms in my lap.

'But... I have to. I'll do what I can to win' I murmured, signing straight afterwards, feeling the breath of the fox on my back.

'I suggest you and your "family" run away' it growled.

'We don't run!' I hissed.

'Your walking into your own death with that choice' it howled, annoyed.

'We won't be dying today. You all will be for harming my family' I snickered, turning towards the fox.

'Naruto will not hold back' the fox growled, as I found it growing lighter.

The Kyuubi howled, really loudly, making me cover my ears on instinct.

'Till next time, Kimiko' it barked, as I felt myself being pulled away from the cage.

---Wake---

'Kimiko! Psst! Kimiko!' Someone murmured, followed by shaking.

'Mmmmm... Go back to bed, Haku' I growled, turning away from him, slightly annoyed by the conversation I had only moments ago.

'We are going to go attack them!' Haku says, shaking my arm softly.

'The leaf ninja?' I yawned, sitting up.

'Yes! Get up and get ready. We have to go!' Haku whined, making me get off the bed.

I hesitated, listening to the Kyuubi's words replay in my head.

"I suggest you and your 'family' run away"

"Your walking into your own death"

"Naruto will not hold back"

Naruto, huh? He doesn't have the intention of killing Zabuza. Why would he not hold back? He looks pathetic! I gazed at Haku, before a stern gaze spread along my features.

'Alright. Let's go' I say, getting up.

---After They Are All Ready---

'Let's move!' Zabuza hissed as we all jumped away from the base, to find our victims.

I watched as Haku and Zabuza jumped through the trees, with me following close behind them. I don't want them to die... What if we are going to our death? I want to warn them, but would they believe me? Would they actually run? No... Gato would hunt us down. We have to finish the job! I looked forward in determination, my mask hung by my hip, swaying with every movement I made, as we jumped towards the bridge, ready to finish the job. A gnawing feeling was felt at the back of my mind. I don't want us to die... We have plans for our further. We will finish this job. No matter the consequences.

'Kimiko?' Haku's voice called for me, making me turn towards him 'You seem tense. Are you alright?'

'Yeah, I'm okay' I say, giving him a small smile.

He smiled back, before returning his glance forward. I'll protect you Haku, Zabuza. Even if it costs me my own life. We stopped just before the bridge, Zabuza thinking about his plans, whilst Haku and I placed our masks on. I need to tell them how much I am thankful for everything they've done... Before they stepped out, I called for them.

'What is it? Don't chicken out' Zabuza growled.

I only shook my head.

'I just wanted to say... Uh... Thank you for everything' I smile.

'We ain't gonna die,' Zabuza humoured, placing a hand to my head, ruffling my hair 'But your welcome for everything'

I gave him a quick hug, before giving Haku a hug as well.

'Let's show 'em what we're made of' I smirk, punching my fist into my hand.

A cawing sound was heard, as was the sound of feathers. A weight shifted onto one if my shoulders, making me look at the mess of black feathers in surprise.

'Where have you been?' I cooed to the crow, as it gave a small squawk in reply.

'Let's go' Zabuza mumbled.

I nodded, as he performed his jutsu, enclouding the bridge in a thick swarm of mist. This is where it ends.
