James' POV

I woke up to an alarm. Her alarm. Again. Why does she wait so long before turning it off? The beeping was starting to get to me, I put my pillow above my head and the sounds muffled a bit. She said she didn't have patience in the morning but she sure as hell waits for so long just to snooze the alarm. She finally turned it off after awhile. I sigh, staring at the ceiling.

Finally getting up, I go to her room to annoy her again. It's funny to see her eyes turn a darker color, looking like she's about to explode. Though she probably hates me for that.

"Hey what day is it today? Do you know?" I asked, leaning on the door frame. She was already up, glass of water on hand. I eyed the glass wearily- she's unpredictable in the mornings. She gave me a look of hatred. Yep, that's Chloe.

"Use your phone dimwit. I swear you ask things that can easily be answered." I chuckled at that.

"Will you be my girlfriend then?" She stopped in her tracks. I smiled, observing her reaction. Her face was blank, but her hand was trembling. The hand that was holding a glass of-

The water splashed on my face, and I laughed. "I thought it would be a question easily answered!" I said while wiping the water off. I never really laugh this much in front of anybody. Just being with her makes me feel a bit more at ease than usual. And besides that, I have a feeling that she doesn't really care about the way I look.

Girls just usually throw themselves at me the moment I give them a smile. Not her though. Maybe it'll take a thousand smiles? Or maybe a hundred laughs? I chuckled to myself. She was entertaining. I thought back to my question. Although I was joking, I was curious. I haven't experienced a serious relationship yet. Mostly because girls usually want me for my looks or for my money.

Chloe wasn't that affected by my looks, from what I can observe. And she doesn't know of my money yet. I smiled. If only she wasn't that annoyed by me. I wanted to get to know her more.

But weirdly , Chloe is not mean to me today. Or at least, on a certain level. She usually complains about my being here in the room, but she isn't complaining. In fact, she looks happy. Too happy for a normal human being.

"What's happening? Why are you smiling? I'm kinda scared now. Is it because I asked you to be my girlfriend?"

Annoyance flickered through her eyes, followed by shock. What? Why will she be shocked that I'm annoying her again? I went inside her room and sat on her bed. She narrowed her eyes at me but otherwise didn't say anything. Huh. Weird.

"It's soccer tryouts tomorrow." She said nonchalantly. I smiled. So she remembered that I told that.

"That's cool. Are you  not joining for any sport?" She shook her head.

"Nah, I'm focusing on school. Besides, I can't tomorrow. I have a date." She said happily.

I frowned. "What? How is that possible?" She smirked at me. "Just because girls ask you out a lot doesn't mean that commoners like me" She put her hand on her head in a theatrical manner. "Can't find true love!" She smirked.

My mouth hung open. I wanted to say something but no words came out. She was nice to hang out with and occasionally annoy, but I didn't expect that I would be... is this jealousy?

"Who are you going out with?" I asked as casually as I could. "Do you think he'll stay after he discovers that you would un-ironically wear a puke-green meme shirt?" She laughs. I like her laugh, I decided. It was a bit restrained and she even looked surprised that she was laughing.

"You guess." How would I know anyway, I barely know anything about her but somehow I'm still drawn in. It's just curiosity, I firmly tell myself.

"Jay?" I asked. She shook her head. "Clarrise and Sophia?" She shook her head again. I don't know any other people yet from around here. I frowned.

"I don't know then. Who?" She laughed again, this time it was unrestrained and she looked... pretty? Not saying that she wasn't good-looking in the first place. She had a very unassuming character but somehow she still stands out to me.

"You." She smiled widely. I stare at her.

"Wait-"

"You're going! No if's no but's! I'm goingggg on a date with you! She dragged me to the living room and sat on the couch. "I've always wanted to ask you out." She said shyly. Is this even real? She took my hand and sat me beside her. I didn't know what to say.

"Hey, you didn't even ask me out yet. What if I say no?" She glanced at me.

"Will you say no?" She asked innocently. Her shoulder-length hair covered a bit of her face. I was itching to tuck it behind her ear. I took a deep breath. It's not like me to be this nervous around girls.

"How will I say no to an invitation I didn't even receive yet." I said.

"Will you go out with me?" She was still holding my hand. She held it tightly as she was waiting for my answer. I'm still confused but this is what I wanted right? Because I was... curious?

"Yes." I finally answered. She smiled widely then suddenly enveloped me in a warm embrace. She smelled of citrus. It was a good smell, I decided. I hugged her back, still wondering if this was real.

"Good, now wake up." I looked at her, bewildered.

"Wake up James! Wake up! Hello???"

*

Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!

I groggily stare at the ceiling. Did I fall asleep during the date? What happened? I checked my phone rubbing my eyes as the screen came into focus.

7:00 a.m.

So it was a dream. I looked at the door that was slightly ajar. The alarm stopped.

If I was just curious, why did I dream of her?
