You sat in the kitchen eating a sandwich. Then you heard knocking in the basement.
You went down there and seen Tate at the door. He was smiling and waving. You ran to the door and opened it.
" Hi Ta- "
Tate gave you a sudden hug. It was awkward but you hugged him back.
" I missed you (y/n). "
How could he have missed me, even though we've only known and met each other once.... maybe he was joking.
" well you want to eat something? "You asked.
"No, I'm not hungry let's go hang out in your room." Tate said.
He walked to your room like he owned the place. You followed him anyway.
As you both entered the room he asked how your day was at school.
"So how was it? Meet any worthy people?"
"Yeah, this guy Josiah, we became friends immediately.... Tate?"
He looked up at you from the floor flipping through your magazines
"Yeah? What is it?" He asked.
"Do you go to school, I thought I would see you?"
He got up and sat on your bed with you.
"I'm home schooled... I don't like high school really... or being around those kinds of people at all."
You thought for a moment.
"What kind of people do you think they are?" You asked.
"I don't think. I know how they are. They like to live a meaningless life, and are just going with the motions. Competing to be the best in the world they live in. But, I know you're not like that. Well, you don't seem to be."
There was an awkward silence. He was looking in your eyes again.
"I - isn't that a normal way to be?" You said.
Tate started laughing and got up to sit at your desk chair putting some distance between each other.
"Normal is strange."
He started spinning in the chair.
"I like you though (y/n), you're not like the rest. It's like you were born in the wrong era."
You started to laugh softly.
"Me? The wrong era? I guess you're right. I feel so out of place at times."
He walked towards you, now standing in front of you. You felt scared for a second. He then put his hands on both sides of your shoulder.
"See, me and you have a lot in common."

Tate stayed and talked with you for another few hours. That night you both grew closer to each other. He could read you like a book.
