In the short story Snake Dance by Corey Ford. Character Jerry is in a telephone booth having a conversation with his mother about college and football. I would portray Jerry to be a caring, thoughtful, as well as a lying son due to how he acts and what he tells his mother. He played a mature role in asking how his father was and telling his mother that he would be sending money to help out his parents. I feel as if Jerry tried to protect his mother from worrying about his homesickness . Although he lied about the college and football I think Jerry played it safe by letting his mother know that he was safe and everybody knew him in school. But in reality everybody knew Jerry for serving milkshakes. I found it interesting how the whole story is told through a phone conversation resulting in one persons point of view. In my personal opinion I think I wouldn't have lied to my mom just because I personally have a close relationship with her and wouldn't want my mom to worry. I would of simply told the truth to my mom instead of lying. As well I would tell my mom the truth to play it safe and not have my mom asking me a million questions about college and football and having to create a bunch of excuses for those questions.
