The smell of antibiotics fills my nose, almost burning it. I lean my back against the wall and listen to the machines beeping.

"Skye?" Zeke asks as he races up to me, crouching in front of me and pulling my against his chest.

"They had to put a tube down her throat and do her breathing for her. I was so scared." I whisper as the tears start to flow again like waterfalls.

"She'll be fine. Your dads on his way, he was just behind me." He explains.

"I couldn't do anything."

"Its alright. Hope will be fine." He promises, a promise he can't keep.

"Is she okay?" I hear someone ask, Zeke moves and helps me stand up. My dad stands in front of me, his face pale and he runs his hands through his hair.

"I don't know. They won't let me see her." I whisper.

"Mrs Stark?" A male voice asks. I spin to see a man dressed in scrubs. I go to ask him a question but my voice won't work.

"Is she okay?" Zeke asks next to me.

"Hope is fine now, she had an allergic reaction to nuts." He explains.

"But she's fine now?"

"Yes. You can go see her now." He says.

Zeke takes my hand and drags me down the corridor to a small room.

Hope is layed on a white bed with a blue blanket spread over her. Her hair flows around her head and a tube is taped under her nose and her eyes flicker open as we walk in.

"Hey sweetheart." I whisper as i stroke her fevered head and kiss it, Hope smiles.

"Mummy, i h-had ice cream that tasted w-weird." Hope stutters.

"I know, you can't eat nuts anymore, that's why it tasted weird." I explain as Zeke holds her left hand.

"But you're okay now princess." Zeke sooths, kissing her hand.

"Did i ruin the party?" She whispers.

"No, of course not." I reply, stroking her hair.

"Mummy, they took my dress." She explains, her eyes filling with tears.

"Its okay, sweetie. We'll get you another one." I offer, wiping her tears away but being careful not to pull out her nose tube.

"I want to go home." She whines.

"Soon."

An hour later Zeke carries Hope's sleeping body to the car and places her in the booster. Hope's face is still pale and puffy, i climb into the back with her and stroke her hair. Zeke starts the car and we drive home.

I carry Hope into her bedroom and pull the duvet up to her chin.

Hope's room has pink walls with a wooden single bed and a fairy pink drape hanging from the ceiling that flows onto her bed. The wall opposite has a giant dolls house and the walls have posters of TV shows and photos of us.

Zeke touches my arm and puts his finger to his lip, telling me to be quiet and he takes me into the living room.

"Are you okay?" He asks, stroking a strand of my hair behind my ear.

"Yeah, im-im fine." I mutter.

"Skye, she's fine. We have the booster if she has another reaction, but you heard the doctor. She ate loads of nuts so its not a sensitive reaction." He explains.

"When's your court date?" I ask.

"Let's just worry about one problem at a time." He points out and pulls away from me.

"Zeke, when is your court date?" I repeat.

"Tomorrow." He whispers.

"Tomorrow?"

"Yep."

"Why didn't you tell me before?" I ask, following him as he walks into our bedroom.

"You were too busy designing the new missile and organising the party." He points out.

"I know but that's important to me."

"And Im not important to you?" He questions, his eyes shining with hurt.

"Of course you're important to me. Youre the most important person to me." I point out, wrapping ny arms around his neck and kissing him.

"Im sorry i wasn't paying attention. Ill come with you to the court tomorrow."

"No, it's okay. With you there i would only look at you." He admits, kissing my nose.

"You'll be okay, they'll just give you a fine." I insist.

"I hope so."
