The Army

That was five thousand years ago. I mean five thousand Chaos years. Five Earth years. I was now Commander Omega of Chao's Army, Leader of the Elite Division. Chaos had adopted me several years ago, so now I was also Prince of the Universe.

A week or two after I left camp, Chaos found me camping out in a forest a few miles away. He had offered me the position in his army so I could start a new life.

As Commander, I could bring people back to life to serve in the army. Luke, or Alpha as he was now known, was my second command. He was the first I brought back. There was also Silena (Beauty), Beckendorf (Metal), Ethan (Revenger), Bianca (Angel), Zöe (Constellation), Michael Yew (Bow), Lee Fletcher (Arrow), and Castor (Grapes). They were all in my Elite Division.

There were also other heroes I brought back. Perseus (Slayer), Orion (Hunter), Jason (Argo), Heracles (Lion), Theseus (Labyrinth), Odysseus (Trojan), Achilles (Heel), Daedalus (Builder), Bellerophon (Defeater) and Orpheus (Music). They made up the Alpha division. Perseus was the leader of this division.

The Beta division was all girls, usually Amazons or Hunters of Artemis. There was Phoebe, Kinzie, Naomi, Otera, Antiope, Hippolyte, Penthesileia, Atalanta, and a bunch of others. Phoebe and Otera were joint commanders.

Pan led the Gamma division which consisted of dead nature spirits like satyrs, dryads, naiads, and nereids.

So anyway, I was in the training room with Alpha this morning sword fighting when my father decided to pay me a visit.

He ushered me into the Elite meeting room. Every division got their own 'barracks.' The barracks included dorms, a training room, a cafeteria, an arcade, a lounge, a theater, and a meeting room. So, to tell the difference between this meeting room and that meeting room, we just named them after the division they belonged to.

Chaos's face was grim, a dark contrast to his usually smiling face. "Omega," he said in his deep, booming voice. "I have a new mission for you."

I didn't like the look on his face one bit. "Are you ok father? You look a bit ill," I asked him.

He smiled weakly. "I'm fine son. I'm just worried about where your next mission is."

I replied with a small smile. "I'll be fine. I've been all over the universe. I'm not scared of anything."

"Yes but-" he stopped suddenly and took a deep breath and said, "Earth. Your next mission is on Earth. Camp Half-Blood."

I stood there, gaping at him. "You can't send me back! Send the Alpha division, the Beta division, the Gamma division, just don't send me back!" I screamed at him.

He looked at his feet. "I'm sorry Omega, but this mission would be too hard for any other division but the Elite. It must be you and your division. Go notify the rest and pack. We leave at sunrise tomorrow."

He left the room without saying another word.

I left as well, preparing for the division's reactions.

It was break time so I knew everyone would be in the lounge. I entered with a heavy heart. Metal and Beauty were cuddled in the corner, Revenger was sharpening his sword, Bow and Arrow were talking, Grapes was playing the Xbox, Constellation and Alpha were standing on opposite sides of the room staring and blushing at each other, and Angel was watching all of this with an amused look on her face.

"Listen," I yelled. Everyone's head turned to look at me. On the Xbox screen, Grapes character had died but he didn't seem to notice.

"We have a new mission," I said. Everyone cheered. It had been a while since we had a mission. "We're going to Earth," I announced. Instantly the cheers were gone and were replaced by protests.

"Silence," I yelled. "I don't want to go either, but we have no choice. Pack your bags, we're leaving tomorrow at sun up."

I retreated to my room to prepare for doomsday.
