Micheal's eyes slowly flickered open, and he hissed in pain as bright ray of sun met his gentle hazel orbs. The afternoon sky was opened above him, and he felt a horribly bitter taste coat the inside of his mouth when he tried to lick his drying lips.
"You're finally awake?"
Micheal slowly sat up, closing his eyes as he rubbed his pounding temple. He hated the feelings of being human. He felt grass beneath his sweating palm, and when he reopened his eyes he was staring at the edge of a large forest.
Josh was on his feet, crossing his arms. "You could have just asked you know," he said sternly, Micheal taking note of the sparking look of early fire in his eyes. The mortal was on the edge of snapping, and the demon didn't know why.
Micheal tried to stand up, but he only got to his knees before he was out of breath. His hands and knees would have to do.
Josh's angry expression faltered for a moment at the look of pain the the smaller male was in, but then he felt the slight burning return to his neck. Having you're flesh torn open by sharp fangs had hurt too.
"Ask for what?" Micheal finally groaned, giving up and resting on his bottom again. His eyes were watering, and he had to bite his lip to keep from spitting up the lump in his throat.
Josh sighed, struggling to keep his anger. It was obvious that Micheal had no idea what he had done, so what good did being angry bring? "You freaked out last night when I went looking for you," Josh said cautiously, "I guess you went hunting with a bunch of wolves or something, and when I showed up in the park you were as bloody as those damned dogs. You sounded like you were drunk."
Slowly the memories of the night began to push there way back into the Prince's mind, and it hurt to see the red flashing over his hands, slicking down his face, coating his teeth and running past his tongue. No wonder Josh was mad. Micheal was suppose to be controlling himself, but his human state was being messed with by something.
"Your speech was slurred when you talked," Josh continued, ignoring when Micheal looked down at his now clean hands. How vivid the memories were made Josh shiver, but the more his mind wandered back to one piece of the puzzle, the more his face would heat up each time. "Y-You told me that, my blood was special to you, and that the shit you got in the forest was nothing compared to it. You grabbed my shoulders and when I cried out you told me you loved my scream, and that it was the most beautiful thing you had ever heard... A-And then... you bit me again..."
Micheal looked up, seeing the younger covering the side of his neck with his hand. Josh's eyes were anywhere but Micheal, and it was impossible to miss the faded blood stains in his shirt. He must have cleaned Micheal up, and then tried to fix himself up as well; but to no avail.
Josh swallowed, closing his eyes. "If it hurts you that much to not have," Josh really did hate saying it, it was an ugly and awkward word, "blood, than you could have just asked instead of running away. You're the Prince of Death for gods sake- things like this are, normal in a sense. I would have let you."
Micheal glued his eyes back onto the ground, feeling nothing but a continuous drop of his heart into stomach. That's what had happened? In all of his never ending knowledge he did not see that coming, or what was to happen after. Josh did not exist in his mind, and it pestered him to no end. Sure he knew what his enter name was, date of birth, form of his house and his complete family tree, but Josh had somehow skipped by. The Queen of Life had somehow pushed the mortal past him without him noticing.
"What are you playing at, oh queen of all existence?" Micheal murmured, flexing his fingers into the tall grass, "what are you putting upon me, with this mortal that you have hid from my dream world? You have led to me, a walking perfection, where I cannot keep my dirtied hands away from. I cannot keep myself contained when it comes to inflicting injuries onto his fragile frame, and when I have spotted him from afar I can not keep my eyes from flicking back. What are you hinting at, Queen of Life? Are you testing my humanity? I have lived hidden from all of them for so long, and now you will me to follow this human, as what? I am a god, far lower than you, but far higher than the rest of the mortals that hide and kill for no reason at all. I have my own set of books and dates of everyone's lives that play out before me, but I am not aloud to interfere until it is over. Why him? Why now?.. Why?.."
Micheal took in a great breath of air, and huffed it out all at once. His tired hazel eyes kept to the grass, silently watching the green sway beneath the wind that pushed it back and forth. Back and forth.
Back and forth.
He didn't seem to notice the deep crimson of embarrassment that covered Josh's confused face. His entire body was frozen in place, letting the words that he probably wasn't meant to hear sink in. His heart felt heavy, and no matter how hard he thought, he couldn't bring himself to understand everything that was said.
After a few moments of strained silence, Josh spoke up. "A-Am I that much of a burden?" Josh asked quietly, mind whirling with the millions of thoughts and worries he had made up. This was much bigger than him. Micheal, had way more to deal with than him, and yet he couldn't keep himself under control?
Micheal looked up and after a second of staring, pushed himself to his feet with a painful hiss. He stood as tall as he could compared to Josh, but was still shorter. The two were no more than a foot away from each other when Micheal gently gripped onto Josh's shoulders, watching the mortal look away. "Joshua, listen to me," the demon stated, pulling himself flush against the younger males chest, "everything has happened and will happen for a reason. I don't know why, but it'll even itself out. It always does. It is your job to stick with me, for she did this all for a reason. You, are here for a reason. Please, Joshua-
"I need you."
