I attempt to run down the stairs, nearly tripping as I attempt to lift my dress, the long, black material streaming out behind me.
I climb in the car beside my Dad and he smiles at me, "you look human now!"
"Oh ha ha, you're so funny!" I laugh as I run my fingers through my long brown hair and shake out my curls a little to give my hair some more volume.
"What time is Charlie picking up Mum and Jaz at?" My dad enquires.
"She said she'd be there at about half- oh! There she is now!" I wave frantically as she passes in her black Audi TT, or in other words her pride and joy. She waves back and I catch a glimpse of her perfectly straightened brown hair in the light of our headlights. She's practically my sister, I love her like one and would kill anyone who wanted to hurt her.
"You do realise I have eardrums and they are probably now broken." My Dad tries to keep a straight face but he fails and starts laughing. His laugh sounds a bit like a dog bark crossed with an owl call, which I find hilarious.
We pull up outside Brandon's house and I jump out the car.
"Eager are you?" My Dad shouts as I practically run to the door.
"Shut up!" I call back and ring the bell.
A few seconds later the door opens and standing there, topless I might add, is Brandon. I could get used to this sight,
"Enjoying the view are you?" He mocks.
"Not at all, just wondering why I haven't been invited in to collect my balloons." It was a complete lie, only half of one, technically.
"Oh, sorry," he looks embarrassed for a second before grinning widely and fully opening the door saying, "Do enter Madame."
"Why thank you good sir." I laugh and walk into the house.
"My Mums away out so she's left your balloons on the table." He tells me. I walk in and smile, "They're perfect!" I exclaim. It's 2 black balloons and a purple one, which has a clear balloon with white '40's on it, encasing it.
"Tell your Mum that I say thank you very much for the beautiful balloons and that I'm really happy with them." I instruct.
"Yes mam!" Brandon salutes me as I walk past him, "Do you wish me to carry those for you, darling?"
I laugh at him and reply "Why you need not do that for me, I am no lady"
"You're more beautiful than anyone I've ever seen before"
I blush and look down, "That's only because I'm dressed up for the party."
"It's not, you looked beautiful this morning and you had no make up on."
"That's your opinion," I reply, "I'm sure many others will disagree."
"If they don't agree then they must be blind or just plain stupid"
I cannot handle this. This is too much for me to cope with. I sound so calm yet inside I'm having a major freak out and am running around screaming. Brandon Kingston just called me, Lily Collin, beautiful. Multiple times I must say. I cannot physically even. I am ceasing to function. I really need to go but don't want to leave.
He moves closer to me and runs his hand down my arm, "You're going to be late to your party." He whispers. I honestly don't care if I'm late to the party, Brandon freaking Kingston is touching my arm and standing practically face to face with me!
"I suppose your right," I sigh, "but a princess is never late. Everyone else is simply early."
He laughs and leans in slightly. Oh my gosh! Is this really happening?! Is he about to kiss me?! Are my lips about to be touched by his?!
He leans right in and kisses my cheek gently, "You really do look stunning."
I look down and hear my Dad shouting from outside, "Are we going to this party or not?!"
"Sorry Dad!" I shout back. When I look up Brandon is not longer next to me but standing at the door, holding it open.
"Goodbye." I whisper and look up through my lashes at him.
"See you in school." He smiles and with a final wave to my Dad, he closes the door.
"What took you so long?" My Dad questions as I get in the car. I feel my cheeks heating up slightly as I reply, "We were talking about what homework we had."
"Oh, I thought it was going to be a bit more exciting." My Dad frowns and turns up the radio. Again we sing along to it until finally we reach our venue.
We park next to Charlie's car and as I get out she comes running over.
"Well don't you look sexy!" I praise. She has on a long, one shouldered black dress which holds tight to her perfect figure, which I am so jealous of, and a gorgeous pair of black heels.
"You're one to talk! Little miss strapless dress with sparkles! Showing off your bare arms!"
"Oh, I have a story for you."
"Well spill the beans, I ain't got all night."
"That reminds me! Did you drop you overnight bag and that off at my house?"
"Of course I did! I'm not ditzy like you." She laughs but suddenly turns serious, "Now story me."
I tell her all about my encounter with Brandon, how he kissed me on the cheek and how I nearly died and all that, as we walk in with the final set of balloons. We place them on the table and then let my Mum in.
"Wow." She stands completely stunned in the doorway of the hall before finally walking around, looking at the place cards and all that.
"You sure did work hard in this." She comes over and hugs my Dad and I, "Thank you."
Soon the hall starts filling up and dinner is served. Once the plates are taken away the music start to get a little louder and more upbeat.
~A few hours later~
It is safe to say that Charlie and myself are drunk. So is my Mum and Dad though so they haven't noticed, anyways I've had too much alcohol to care if they had.
It's now 3 in the morning and finally we call for a taxi back to mine, Charlie's staying over so we get a large one to fit all 5 of us in. We get back to mine and I go straight up to my room, by straight I mean I walked into 4 walls and almost knocked a picture and a mirror off the wall. I take of my heels and unzip my dress, letting it fall to the floor. I then step out of it, throw on a pair of pyjamas, wipe off my make up and then collapse onto my bed.
Charlie, who had quite a bit more to drink than I did, has all ready passed out on my bed so I gently remove her shoes and pull off her dress too. I put her pyjamas on her and wipe her face too, I have white bed sheets and I'm not getting her make up all over them. I get her under the covers and climb in beside her.
Tonight was a good night.
