"I hate mornings." I groan as I get up and turn off my alarm.
"Amen sister." Charlie calls back, still buried somewhere under my bed covers.
I head into my bathroom, take a quick shower and give my face an exfoliating scrub. I get out the bathroom and drag Charlie out of the bed.
"Your turn!" I laugh at her disgusted expression and threaten, "Either you get into the bathroom and shower yourself or I'll put you in it and turn the cold water on you."
"Okay, okay I'm going." She stands up and groggily stumbles to the bathroom, I laugh at her as she walks straight into the door. She sighs, opens the door and goes into the bathroom, locking it behind her.
I get my underwear and uniform on before getting out clothes for Charlie. I start doing my make up just as she comes out of the bathroom.
"Thanking you muchly, Chica."
She gets dressed and starts doing her makeup behind me. I'm kneeling on the floor in front of my full length mirror so it's not exactly hard to see over me.
I finish my makeup and move onto packing my bag. Maths first, what a joy. I hope something exciting actually happens in maths or else I'm going to end up tearing out my eyeballs.
We head downstairs and I put some bread into the toaster. The only way to start a Monday morning is with some toast and Nutella. We quickly finish and head back upstairs to brush our teeth and fix our hair before grabbing our bags and heading out the door.
"Bye Mum! Bye Dad! Bye Jaz!" Charlie and I both shout. We give everyone hugs and kisses on their cheeks before saying goodbye and telling them to have a nice day.
"Not gonna lie, I'm really looking forward to seeing the guys today." I say.
"Yeah, they're some of the only people I actually like in that school." Charlie agrees. We laugh, turn up the radio a little and talk about what boring classes we have today the whole way to school.
We stop at Charlie's house so that she can run in and grab her tie and her blazer. Our blazers are literally our life. Phone in one pocket, iPod in the other, chewing gum in the inside pockets and money in another.
Her parents aren't in so it's a quick stop before we continue on to school.
We get out the car and sling our bags over our shoulders. This is our last year of high school and we just don't really care anymore. We're both wearing black jeans, white shirts, our navy blue ties, black converse and our black blazers. Our backpacks are the reverse of each other and it's so cool, mine is black with white polka dots and Charlie's it white with black polka dots.
We get into school and sit down at one of the large lunch tables. Just as I take out my phone to check the time a pair of hands cover my eyes.
"Guess who?" A voice whispers in my ear. I know exactly who it is, Brandon.
"Hey guys, where's Cody?" I hear Charlie ask.
"He left for work really early today, we didn't see him this morning." Brandon replies.
"Cute matching phone cases." I hear Ryan say but I still can't see.
Brandon removes his hands from my eyes and sits down beside me and Ryan sits across from him, next to Charlie.
I smile at my phone case and look at Charlie. Mine has a girl on it with light brown hair who is wearing top and skirt with little pink flowers in them and Charlie's has a girl with dark brown, pleated hair who is wearing and Aztec pattern top and a turquoise skirt. The girls arms are bent so that when we put our phones together they make a love heart.
The bell rings and we begin to make our long, gruelling journey to maths. Charlie's class is the first one we get to so I give her a hug and tell her I'll probably text her and I'll see her soon. Ryan, Brandon and I continue walking until we reach mine and Brandon's class.
"I guess I'm being left to walk all the way to my class on my own then." Ryan sighs.
"Yep!" I giggle and pull Brandon by his wrist into class. I walk over to my seat, sit down and get my maths stuff out.
The teacher walks in and says, "Today we're going to be revising quadratic equations."
The entire class groans as the head teacher walks in.
"Well that's a sound I love to hear," she laughs, "Can I see Lily Colin in my office please?"
The whole class 'Oooooh's as I leave the class.
"Have I done anything wrong?" I ask worriedly.
"No, not at all dear, it's not you." She smiles sympathetically at me which makes me panic.
"Please sit down," I sit on one of the chairs across from her and she continues, "There was an accident this morning while your Mum and sister were driving to school."
I freeze, I don't say anything so she continues, "They're currently in the hospital in a very critical state, you've to bring your stuff to my office and can bring a few friends with you if you like. Your Dad is trying to sort out how you're getting to the hospital but as you can understand he is very stressed."
I just sit. I don't know how to react in this situation. Slowly the tears begin to appear, sliding down my face, more and more pour down my face and I find myself sobbing. She hands me a tissue with a sympathetic smile and I dry my eyes.
I eventually calm down and stop crying. My mascara is streaked down my face, my eyes are bright red and puffy and most of my make up is gone.
I breathe slowly as I walk back to class but it's obvious that I've been crying and start worrying about what people will think and say about me. I push those thoughts from my mind and confidently slip back into class. My plan to not get noticed fails as a guy at the back of my class shouts, "Did you get into trouble?! Little cry baby!"
"That's enough Jason." The teacher snaps.
"But look at her! She's obviously been crying!" He shouts again.
That's when I snap.
"Well excuse me for getting upset over the fact that my Mum and little sister have been in a car crash and are currently in a critical position in the hospital." As I say this I angrily shove my math stuff into my school bag. I start crying again and quietly apologise to my teacher as I leave the class a sob escapes my mouth and I rush down the corridor.
