Chapter 7: "We're gonna teach you to play dirty and get your paws wet."

~Aries' POV~

The sound of a phone buzzing with an alarm woke us up. I glanced around the room sleepily, looking for the source of disturbance, and promptly panicked as I saw moonlight streaming through the crack in the curtain. I shot out of the bed, mentally swearing as I threw clothes on. Crap, crap, crap, I broke curfew! Dad is gonna kill me.

Serah cut the alarm off and watched me in amusement as I spazzed, trying to find my left shoe, and after a moment, I turned to glare at her. "What's so funny?" I asked, irritated.

She sat up and stretched, then got up and came over to me, wrapping her arms around my waist. "I knew you would freak about breaking curfew, so I took the liberty of calling your parents and letting them know that you were spending the night."

I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "Really? How'd you manage to do that?"

She laughed. "I have my ways, don't worry your pretty little ass about it." I rolled my eyes irritably and pulled out of her grip, finally spying my missing shoe over in the corner. Cocky, sexy idiot...

~Serah's POV~

I went to go make dinner while Ari hopped in the shower. My dad had left hours earlier, going hunting with his buddies. I personally didn't like the guys; some of them looked at me lecherously and others were just downright creepy, but I cared about my dad's happiness way too much to voice my concern. As long as he was happy, I was too.

I seasoned the pork a bit more before dipping the meat in flour and batter and laying it facedown in some hot vegetable oil, then checked on the rice I had going. I wasn't rushing, but I wanted to have everything done by the time she got out.

I sang along to Paramore as I worked, smiling like a crazy person. That was nothing but raw, I thought to myself as Stop This Song played through my earbuds. I've never seen her like that; that was insane. My grin grew a bit wider as a thrill played through my stomach and over my skin, like I'd been shocked with energy. Next time will be better though, it'll be special. I won't be in heat, I promised myself, pulling out my phone and checking the time.

"10:32," I said quietly, sighing. How the hell had I let myself get so caught up in that girl that I didn't make her anything until past ten? Dummy extraordinaire right here, folks.

I moved to take the pork out of the skillet, laying the chops on paper towels to soak up the extra oil on them, but came up short. Both my instincts and my wolf screamed together all at once, TURN AROUND.

I whipped around to see my Alpha sitting casually on the counter as if we were back at the pack land. My heart stopped, my stomach flipped and I wasted no time in ripping the earbuds out of my ears. "Al-Alpha, I'm—"

Alpha Darien held a hand up, smiling warmly. "Serah, it's okay. I'm not angry," he says, and I relaxed only by a small margin. "It was admittedly quite stupid of us to try to keep you from your mate, especially in your first heat. But you did disobey a direct order."

Ah, crap. I knew there was gonna be a but, I thought, internally biting my nails. The man on my counter continued without a hitch, "I've decided you'll train with September. It kills two Hunters with one attack by being a punishment and getting your training over and done with. Any questions?" the Alpha allowed as he hopped off the counter.

I started to open my mouth to ask him who September was, but at that moment, I heard the rice boiling over and I turned around quickly to turn down the heat and add a bit more water from a cup I had set aside.
