Unless it says otherwise, expect the POV to be Serah's. Nothing else to say now, except enjoy! (>v<)

Chapter 4: "She truly was a blessed wolf."

Pain returned, making up for the moment of both recognition and regret by forcing a groan out of my mouth and making me bite my tongue to avoid swearing a blue streak. That got a flurry of movement started around me, and a second later, warm hands covered my face. My wolf growled at the sudden theft of sight, and I found myself snarling warily, attempting to nip the unfamiliar person.

They pulled away quickly and I relaxed slightly, glancing around. Most of the people who had crowded my sides were either gone, or standing in corners of the room, talking or watching me. I glared at them, suddenly very apprehensive. Why do they keep staring? And who are they talking about?

Then I noticed a scarlet haired girl speaking under her breath to an aged lady behind me. I turned and craned my head to better hear what they were saying.

"I can't block her wolf if she bites me," she said, running a hand through her curls. She must be the one who had her hands over my face, I thought, sniffing and remembering the woodsy scent of her. It was slightly weaker now, cuz she was farther away. Healer Wolf, my wolf chimed in, and my distrust of the stranger weakened.

"Yet we can't sedate her or she'll shift again," the elderly lady responded thoughtfully. "Is there a quicker way to do it?"

The girl grimaced. "There is, but I doubt she'll like it. Omega-born alphas are very, very territorial, even when they don't mean to be."

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I bit my lip. A wave of aches flashed through me again. What is does 'omega-born' even mean? And what does that have to do with alphas or whatever? What is she talking about?

"She'll just have to trust us, then," said the girl, and she came back over, smoothing back my hair from my forehead and looking into my eyes. I froze at her intense gaze, and time seemed to halt for a moment as I felt and saw the pain literally being drawn out of me through our connection.

Turns out pain is black and smoky, a cloud of hurt, swirling around and filling whatever it can. The more of it, the longer and more it hurts. The girl pulled the storm out of me, the wisps contained in a ball and after a moment it dissipated into thin air. Then the connection broke and I was able to think straight.

"T-Thank you," I stammered.

"Don't mention it," the redhead replied, smiling slightly, then turned to leave the room along with the elderly lady and the rest of the observers.

I stopped her. "Whoa, wait. Where you going? Is somebody gonna let me out of these?" I asked, nodding at the leather straps holding me tightly to a table of some sort.

"Alpha Darien will be in to see you in a bit; just sit tight until then. He'll be able to explain things to you better than I or anybody else can," she just told me, not turning around as she left, leaving the door open slightly.

I wanted to yell after her, but I figured it wouldn't do me any good. I just had to wait for the Alpha.

~Aries' POV~

I had noticed Serah's absence from school immediately, and of course I was worried, especially cuz she didn't text me like she normally would, but I figured she had her reasons like any other person would. Besides, I didn't want to come off as clingy and demanding, always wondering where my girlfriend was. But then her best friend (Jace, I think his name was) came up to my table during lunch, wondering where she was, and when I told him I didn't know, he looked nervous. "Well, if she's not with you, and not with me and our group, then where the hell is she?"
