Abigail was lonely, but not bored, nor sad. She was perfect, and she knew it. At age one, she learned to communicate, and since then, her education soared. Abigail was raised in a lab, food and water came to her through metal chutes. She didn't come in contact with another human being until she turned 10. When she turned five the training started. Abigail woke up at five o'clock and worked out until seven. Then she ate, and went to a 'class' of sorts. She learned all about everything. Math, English, but mostly history. She learned about the revolution, the government collapse, the war and poverty that followed. Then she ate and went to sleep. Every day was the same routine. She never looked in a mirror, so she never thought she had any flaws. She was confident and perfect. She knew everything except her purpose. When she turned 10 an elderly woman would visit her every morning for an hour. At first Abigail was fascinated by the creature. Eventually she learned the woman's name was Tabitha. Tabitha was good to Abigail and taught her social skills. If she ever met another person, Abigail would be prepared.
Abigail woke up excited. She was 13 today. That meant final exams, and then she would either fail, or she would get to do whatever she was meant to do. After hours and hours of exams on every subject she had ever studied, Abigail went for a seven mile run, shot a target with ten different guns and a bow, and played strategic games. Then she walked into a small room, which transported her to a room that looked like a hospital. Men with masks ordered her onto a gurney.
When Abigail woke up, only one man was with her. He smiled, "Congratulations Abigail No. 37.29, Your genes are healthy, and your immune system is in good condition. After a thirty-two hour body de-tox you will be able to... Meet your creator." Abigail took a deep breath and relaxed, and the man injected her with a syringe full of clear liquid. Abigail was the inly one to ace her trials on the first try, but five other subjects also passed.
Petal, Victoria, Kay'lin, Liam, and Adam all passed. The rest were disposed of.

As Abigail slept, America was awake. Children begged for food, adults worked on the filthy, soot covered streets for 50 cents a day. The small group of adults who held power sat at a conference table trying to figure out what to do next. "Put the kids through trials or just to thrust them into the world. Would the public accept them? And what would the kids think of the public?" The adults argued, then laughed it off, then slept. Then, of course, they scolded themselves for wasting time, and argued more. They really needed kids to take charge for them.

There were other kids too. Poor kids crowded in classrooms. They were in history, learning about the government collapse. "America had finally gone to far. They elected President Porter, even though he was unqualified and unintelligent. During his three year reign he stole the people's money to buy drugs. Then he sold the drugs to other countries for half the price. He destroyed America, and the government collapsed. After the collapse there was war. Not your average war, everyone against everyone else. Soon America was half dead, and completely bankrupt. Since the decision to try solution #7 America has gone uphill slightly. We have made a few moves in the right direction." A documentary drones. The students are practically laughing during the movie. America has NOT gotten better for them. They work nights, and go to school during the day. They sleep weekend days. Most of them are homeless and orphans. America has only helped those with money. But with Solution #7 going into action, some of the children experience hope for the first time.
