A little girl collapsed on the cool damp grass, the grass was quite long, it almost completely engulfed her. The water from the grass soaked her back, making her dress stick to her skin. She moved her head to the side, the grass leaving droplets of water on her cheeks. Its was almost nine o clock at night, yet she didn't feel tired at all. She started talking to the boy next to her.
"Do you ever wonder what's up there?" She said
"Like what?" The boy responded, pretending that he didn't understand though she knew he did.
"Maybe someone up there is probably wondering what it's like here." She said quietly almost a whisper.
"I guess..." the boy said just before a jet fighter exploded above them like a firwork going off on new years eve.
"Do you think we'll ever meet them?" the boy continued, however, much he was much quieter this time, afraid of another plane exlpoding, or worse a bomb being dropped near them. The Little boy alsohad a tone of curiosity in his voice, like he was actually wondering, but the girl didnt think he cared at all about whats up there. All he cared about was surviving this war.
"I hope so... " she said as a jet passed low overhead "Don't you?" she continued
The Bomb siren started wailing like an injured animal, the girl turned to look at the boy, his face was drained of
colour, this was his nightmare coming true
"Time to go..." She whispered to him, he didnt respond though.
They both got up and started sprinting towards the bomb shelter a couple hundred meters away. We could see the bomber approaching,
It might be bombing the city the little girl thought, she didnt care though, she wanted to get to the shelter.
They got to the shelter just in time, the bomb bay doors where already open, about five seconds before the bombs where released like rain. They continued to run deeper and deeper into the shelter, running past multiple guards with guns that the little girl couldnt process. When they got to the actual bunker the girl collpased on a bed and whispered to herself,
"This is going to be a long night," she whispered to herself.
The guard heard her and replied "Don't worry, this bunker is one of the most advanced in the world, it can withstand up to 3 direct nuclear strikes, however, if they decide to Kinetic bombard this place, where screwed."
"When this war is over i reckon most of the world will be destroyed and we wont have any defense against anything, thats when They will strike and try to take our planet, we need to stop fighting amongst ourselves and prepar for them, aliens, whataver you want to call them," She heard the guard say to one of his friends.
The girl didnt understand anything besides dont worry so she felt safe in the bunker. She went to fall asleep, when she realised something,
She wanted to join the military
