*Zella's POV*

Thirty seconds left.

I watched intently as Mint passed the ball to Jazz, who dribbled towards the basket. Go for a layup. Go for a layup, Jazz. Go for a layup!

I stood ready near the free-throw line, my feet spread apart, keeping quiet to avoid any attention from the Koalas of Star High School. I was open and ready to take a shot if I got the ball. But, then again, it wouldn't do any good. The score was 30-4 for the Koalas - we were getting thrashed by one of the worst teams ever; the Un15 players of Star High. I kept my eyes on the ball which was currently in the hands of Jazz, while my peripheral vision watched the rest of the players trying to get free. Everything was blurred without my glasses, but I could play perfectly well that way. I guess it helped me personally when I couldn't see each and every person's face, it made me feel less pressured, and stay more focused.

Jazz stormed past her defenders, and crashed hard against her man as she went for the layup. The sound of the net as the shot went in sent an energy through my body, but we were still far from a victory with only about twenty seconds left of the game. Nonetheless, everyone in the team cheered and applauded to show their appreciation.

I sprinted towards my man who was a tall, dark girl named Kitty. She defended well, so I didn't get the ball for the rest of the game.

In the end, we lost 32-6. My heart was pounding, my blood boiling and my sweat pouring with the effort I had put in as well as the anger that started to burn inside me. We lost to a sucky team. Losing never made me mad, it was usually just disappointment I felt when we lost. Losing to a really crappy team like Star High Un15s was what made me very, very angry. I tried breathing in and out slowly, trying to get some air into my lungs and let some anger sizzle away. I grabbed my towel and dabbed at my neck and face, seating myself on the players' bench.

"We sucked today, and you all know it." I began my end-of-game pep talk, eyeing my team-mates. Jazz was seated on the floor with two other girls in front of me, Linda and Kate. Mint was seated next to me on the bench, along with Cara, Maria, Jamie, Ella, Lizzie, and Breeya, "We lost to SH with a shameful score of 6-32. Jazz, well done for the three layups that died down our shame by at least six points. It is greatly appreciated by me and the rest of the team. Guys, round of applause for Jazz," Everyone applauded with a few reluctant claps, myself included, "I'm sure we all put a lot of effort, but effort without skill is of no use to the team, so start manning up and work on it. I'm not saying you guys didn't try - you did, I'm saying you guys tried without really thinking of how to try. Maybe you all ran up and down, side to side on the court a few times, but think about strategy and plan your moves before you make them. We might even be able to win with less working our butts off and more thinking our brains out. Anyway, well done to Jazz, well done to Mint and Liz for good screening, and well done to the rest of you who at least, tried. What mattered today is that we were tired as hell at the end of the game. Thanks, guys."
