When school came on Monday, I had managed to avoid Harry almost the whole half of the day. If I even remotely saw a guy with brown curls, I would immediately run the opposite way.
It was exhausting. I felt stupid for avoiding Harry, I'm pretty sure if he saw me he wasn't going to bother talk to me. After all, he didn't need to explain himself. So I convinced myself, that I wasn't going to hide from Harry anymore.
Sooner or later I would see him again.
I went to the cafeteria, and headed for the lunch line. I didn't spot Jenny yet, maybe her teacher was keeping her late. I didn't mind sitting by myself, it didn't bother me. Grabbing my lunch tray, I couldn't help but eye at the food that lay on the tray.
It was supposed to be lasagna... I think. Maybe I should stop being lazy, and start packing my own food. But just the thought of getting up earlier, made me even lazier just thinking about it. Jenny and I spend all day yesterday, in bed.
We watched romantic movies, the ones that made you cry at the end because you realized, you were probably going to be single forever. I must off spaced off because a hand kept waving in front of my face, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Finally! I've been calling your name for like the past minute." Jenny stood there, hands on her hips.
"Oh, sorry. I'm just tired, that's all. What's up?" I avoided her gaze, I knew she didn't believe me. She sat down in the sea in front of me, while I started poking my food with a fork.
"You're not going to be happy, once I tell you what Liam told me." I just shrugged, at this point I didn't care about anything.
"Harrytoldliamtotellmetotellyouthatwearetoreporttothebarnforprotection." She said everything so fast, that all understand was Harry, Barn, and Protection.
That snapped me out of my funk. "Fuck no! I am not going there. He's not the boss of me. Why doesn't he worry about that skank, he fucked the other night."
"What skank?" Oh shit. I didn't need to turn around to know it was Harry. Jenny just looked like she wanted to get the hell out of here. I gave her a you-better-not-leave-me look. With courage, I turned around and faced Harry.
It was sad to say, but he still took my breath away. With his green piercing eyes, his perfect jawline, his slightly crooked nose. His hair, oh his soft silk brown hair.
"What do you want?" I asked
"I just came to let you know, that I'm picking you guys up tonight. Protection starts now." the way he said it, something was up.
"Is there something you're not telling us?" I wanted to be a bitch to him, but I felt like my life was maybe a little more important than me being mad at him.
"Words out. Supposedly, they've ganged up with other gangs. At this moment, they're hunting you down." It's like somebody, slapped the shit out of you. I wasn't safe anymore, my mom wasn't safe.
I stood up in alarm. "My mom! What about my mom?" I asked hysterical, if they hurt her it would be all my fault. I would never be able to live with the guilt, if something bad happened to her.
"Listen to me, I won't let them hurt your mom or you. That's a promise, and I never ever break my promises." How could I move on from him, if he said those kinds of things to me?
