Chapter 5- He’s lost his mind! And so have I.

(Recap)

We could see the tree house from where we stood but unfortunately we could see Jet at the bottom of the stairs. Oh dang it! I really don’t even want to see him let alone be right next to him. “Here we go,” I heard Bee whisper.

Jet heard us coming and looked up from the ground he was staring at. He looked at us and smirked. This can’t be good!

“So how was training?” Jet asked. He had a smirk on his face that I didn’t like at all.

“Alright, but why do you want to know?” Bee replied smoothly crossing her arms over her chest.

“Just wanted to know that’s all. I mean if she’s going to continue training with you she has to be good. And if she’s alright then I guess she will have to train with me.” Wait I thought that bee was beginner and Jet was expert. This is so confusing!

“What? Jet you know that you would hurt her with all your training exercises! She’s staying with me!”

“Yea well maybe she deserves some pain!” He said now a foot in front of me but turned to look at Bee. “And maybe she doesn’t deserve to be with you, you brat.” And that suddenly struck a cord. With all the strength I could muster I punched him straight in the jaw throwing him off balance. I then placed my hands on his shoulders I kneed him in the stomach, then pushed him backwards and he fell to the ground with a thud.

With that I turned and ran straight up the stairs as fast as I could leaving a groaning Jet and a stunned Smellobee. I ran straight to my room. Breathing heavily I leaned against the door. I can’t believe I just did that! Oh I’m in for hell.

~Smellobee’s POV~

I watched as she ran up the stairs after beating Jet up. None of us had the guts to do that but I bet you everyone in the camp wanted to beat him up so badly. I looked down to where Jet was. Man he was going to have a very sore jaw after what she did.

“Jet! Oh are you alright!” I looked up to see Penny running towards Jet. She kneeled down beside him. She looked up at me and gave me a death glare.

“Hey don’t look at me! I didn’t do it.” I put my hands up in defense. I turned and quickly walked away from her not wanting to tell her who really did it.

“Oh sure you didn’t!” She said in her whiny voice. Man she ticked me off big time! Before she could say anything else I turned towards the way to my room.

Caz has a lot of guts to do that to Jet, but I guess she doesn’t know what he’s capable of. I reached the door of our bedroom and knocked.

There was no response so I knocked again, “Caz? Are you in there? Its me Bee.” I waited a little bit.

“Is there anyone with you?” I looked over both shoulders. Seeing an empty hallway I replied,

“No Caz, its just me.” I heard some rustling and then she opened the door open. She turned and sat on her bed. I noticed that it was dusk outside and the stars were slowly coming out one by one. I went and sat on my bed opposite Caz.

“I don’t know what came over me. I was so angry about him treating you like that.” She paused for a moment. “How do you put up with that? It drives me crazy!” Actually it drove me crazy too, I was just scared to face him I guess but I’m not letting anyone know that.

“Umm, I guess I get used to it. I mean it doesn’t bother me that much anymore.” I completely lied then. “But sometimes I do get really annoyed by it like this morning. He was out of line talking to you like that.” At least that was truthful. I was actually really angry that Jet said that and spoke so rudely to her. But at least Jet isn’t like this all the time I mean he can get really compassionate about certain things and really care about something if he wants to.

I think that having the power to mess with the fire nation has gone to his head just a little. It can actually be a good thing though, I mean he comes up with some really tactical plans that are really good but some are just plain wrong. I wish we had a better leader sometimes.

“Thank you for standing up for me this morning. It was really nice of you to do so.” Caz said. She looked up at me and smiled, like truly smiled, for like the first time since I’ve met her! I smiled back at her.

“That’s ok! And thank you for beating Jet up for me this afternoon. It was quite a show,” We both started laughing. “Well I don’t think we should stay here while Jet is angry so do you want to go for a walk or something? Maybe we could even go for a swim in the river?”

“Yea sure I would love to, but I don’t want to run into Jet on the way down.” She was fiddling with her hands in her lap.

“Oh that’s ok we will just jump out the window and climb down the next tree over there.” I said walking to the window to show Caz what I meant.

“Oh, great.” She said her voice filled with sarcasm.

~Caz’s POV~

This is going to be scary. I don’t like climbing trees without Aang but here I am living in one. I shouldn’t be scared. Right? Wrong… it looked so far down but I was going to climb this tree whether I like it or not. “I might be really slow at climbing though cause I haven’t climbed for ages,” I warned Bee.

“That’s ok. I’ll show you the quickest way.” She then proceeded to jump out the window, grab onto a branch and swing herself to be standing on the next one. Oh great this is going to take a while.

Swinging my legs over the side of the window I looked at the branch I was meant to grab. At least I’m very acrobatic; I mean I had to be when I was learning air bending.

I pushed myself off the ledge, grabbed onto the branch and landed right next to Bee. Oh relief! We kept moving across to the other tree my heart going 100 kilometers an hour! I was following her every move making sure I wouldn’t fall.

We finally reached the other tree. It was pretty close so both trees branches combined. We slid down to the ground and looking up it wasn’t that far up as I had thought.

“Come on, let’s go.” Bee said snapping me out of my thoughts. “Race ya!” She got into her stance. “Ready, set.”

“Go!” I yelled and took off sprinting. I have always been a fast runner and yes I do like to prove it. I got to the river before Bee. I took of my shoes and dangled my feet in the river. Ah that’s nice. I heard someone approaching from behind and guessed it was Bee.

That’s before he sat down. Oh fudge cookies! This cant be good!
