Chapter 2- It could be the start of a friendship... Maybe?

Walking with Smellobee was really awkward! For a start she didn't even try to talk to me, like at all. This was a time when I wish I could talk with out giving much away. I knew if she heard me talking she would report it back to the so-called leader, Jet. And then he would make me talk to him about my past and figure out everything. So that's why I don't talk.

We finally stopped at a River that ran into a town close by. I walked over to the edge and sat down, dangling my hand in it. It was refreshing being by the river. I've always thought the sound of running water makes me feel calm. I glanced over to where Smellobee was standing. She was looking around like someone was watching us.

I didn't give it a second thought; I closed my eyes and went back to listening to the water run over the rocks. I heard Smellobee sit beside me but I didn't open my eyes to look at her.

"Listen, I didn't mean to be so rude back there when I came in." there was silence as if she was contemplating what to say next. "You know you can talk to us if you need to. We have been through what you have, you know losing your parents."

No you haven't, I thought, you haven't been through what I have! I was too angry to go back to listening to the river so I stood and started to walk away. "Wait! I know your upset but you have to listen to me! The fire benders are cruel and ruthless but you can help us get back at them if you want." She had caught up to me now. "Come on. Its bad to hold your anger inside why don't you just take revenge. It kinda helps soothe the pain."

I stopped walking and glared at the ground. Why would I want revenge? I'm bigger then that. You just have to forgive and forget. That was my motto but it was getting really hard to follow now. I know that fire benders came and attacked the air nomads. I know that they had killed every single air bender left. But did I really want to take revenge on something that happened 100 years ago?

Yea sure I was angry at all of them, but all of them are dead now and they haven't completely wiped out the air bending nomads just yet, right? I mean I'm still here. There should be others right?

"Are you ok?" I looked ahead and started walking again. I heard her sigh and follow me. We finally reached the tree house. It seemed to be about five in the afternoon.

"Mmmm, can you smell dinner? I never knew I was that hungry!" Smellobee walked past me. Actually it did smell good. I haven't eaten a proper meal in four months. When we got to the top there were a lot of people in the dinning room.

It was quite a sight to see! Everybody going everywhere, it looked like chaos. "Come on and sit next to me" Smellobee dragged me into the chaotic room. She plonked me down into the seat next to her. Everybody seemed to be sitting down now the room becoming less chaotic. I looked around and noticed that Jet was at the end of the table talking to Penny. I felt Smellobee nudge me. I turned to look at her. She was actually really pretty. She had short brown hair, brown eyes and tanned skin that was an olive colour.

"Do you know any one here?" She nodded to the boy across from her. I shook my head. "Well then that's Longshot," pointing to a boy across from us. He nodded to me. He had dark brown eyes and a broad hat on so I couldn't see his hair but im going to guess its black. "That's pipsqueak," She pointed to the guy beside Longshot. He was huge despite his name. "Hello," he replied, He had brown hair and eyes too. "And I'm The Duke!" A short boy said next to me. Again he had brown hair and eyes. He smiled at me so I smiled back.

They were all looking at me like they were expecting me to say something. "So do you have a name or do we just have to call you the girl who doesn't talk?" Pipsqueak asked. "Or TGWDT, for short" The Duke piped in beside me. They all started laughing at this. It made me smile that these kids were still able to laugh even if they didn't have parents.

"Sooooo, do you?" Smellobee asked beside me. I looked down at the table, "its Caz." It heard everyone let out a breath of relief as if they were waiting for me to talk. "Well then at least we know your name right CAZ..." the duke said mockingly. "Oh Shut up TD! Just because she has a cooler name then you don't mean you can mock her!" Smellobee almost yelled across the table. I smiled to myself at her comment.

"Don't worry you'll get used to it, it's like this every meal" Pipsqueak nodded to me. Just then people carrying food came in. I lost my appetite just looking at it, not that I looked bad or anything I just didn't feel like eating. It was laid on the table. "Ok Eat now." Jet spoke. Everyone filled their plate with heaped amounts of food.

"Not going to eat anything," TD asked me. I shook my head. I waited till everyone was finished. Turns out that these people are really funny! I walked out with Smellobee. She was talking to me about something random that involved TD and her when we ran into Jet in the hallway.

"Hey Bee can I talk to you and Caz for a moment"

"Yea sure," She said as we walk over to him.

"Listen I was wondering if Caz could stay in your room since you don't have a room mate and Caz is that ok if you stay with Bee?" I looked at Bee to see if she liked the idea. She smiled at me. I turned and nodded at Jet. "And your ok with it Bee?"

"Yep," she said popping the "p."

"Ok then I'll get Pipsqueak to move your things into your room." He then walked off down the hall.

"I haven't had a room mate in ages" Bee smiled at me. "Come on. I'll show you where it is." We continued walking down the hallway then proceeded to walk up some stairs to the top of the tree. "I love my room. You can climb out the window and lie on the roof and watch the stars." We kept walking past a few doors till we reached the end. "Well here it is. My room."

We went inside, it could easily fit two beds in here and I could see what Bee was talking about when she said she would climb out the window and onto the roof. It also had its own bathroom.

"So you do like it?" She was waiting for me to say something.

"Yea" maybe I could trust Bee, but I'm not letting my guard down. Not just yet anyway.
