Chapter 2- Clues?
I know this is life or death but what is this some sort of game for this girl. I mean 'The next clue to find me is located at the place where every child dreads' for real there is a lot of places
children dread. There's the grandparent's place, school, the doctor.....school!! Of course its school.
Every child dreads school. I hope. Okay lets see how old she is. I pull out her file and scan threw it
till I find what i'm looking for 'Rose Miller born on 04/17/1994." Okay so she is 17 years old. Time to
take a trip to Granite Creek High School.
****Time Lapse****
I pull into the school's parking lot and park in the first available space I see. The first thing i'm
going to do is get Rose's schedule. I walk into the front office and walk over to the receptionist and
say " Excuse me" I look over at the name plate "Mrs. Murphy? I'm Detective Green and I need Rose
Miller's schedule." She looks up at me through her eyelashes trying to look sexy and says "Honey
i'm no Mrs, but I am available." I internally roll my eyes at this.
"Sorry miss but all I need is Rose Miller's schedule." I tried to hold my laugh back but she
heard. She glared at me as she handed me the schedule. I smiled at her as if nothing happened
and walked by her into the school. Rose's schedule read as follows:
1st Period- AP- U.S History
2nd Period- AP- Algebra II
3rd Period- Gym
4th Period- AP- Art
-Lunch
5th Period- AP-English III
6th Period- AP- Physics
7th Period- AP-Music
Wow. Is this why see is a outcast because she's super smart? Almost all of her classes are
Advanced Placement Classes. People in this world look down on people like Rose because she
might actually make a difference. Is that what she meant about people being blind. Blind about her
because no one noticed her worth? Maybe but i'm going to need some more info on her.
I walked into her 1st period teacher's classroom and knocked on the wall by the door.
Everyone looked up at me. "Excuse me um.." I looked down at the schedule, "Mr.Scott?"
"Yes?"
"May I have a few words with you?" I asked him. He looked at me for a second before saying "Okay
one second." He looked up at the class. "Alright class look over chapters 2 and 3 and we will go
over it when I come back." I heard the "groans" and "moans" from the class as he walked into the
hall with me.
"Mr. Scott I'm Detective Green." He shook my hand. "Pleasure" he replied. "Is this about
Rose?" He asked. "Yes it does sir and I would like to ask a few questions concerning Rose's
character."
"What about her character?" He asked me.
"Like do you know what her life was like in school and how she did in school. Stuff like that."
I told him. He thought for a second with his eyebrows arched in a strange way before saying "Rose
was my best student. She had a photographic memory. Ever paper she turned it she got a 100 on
it. She was just brilliant i'll tell you. Now I did notice she sat in the very back isolated from her peers.
Does that help?"
"Yes it does thank you for your time Mr. Scott." I shook his hand and walked away not
waiting for his reply. Ever teacher I went to had similar answer about Rose "Oh she was my best
student. She's brilliant. She doesn't talk much. Sits in the back" and so on. But the two teachers
who had said it a bit differently was her art and music teacher. They both said something along the
lines of this 'Rose. Rose is brilliant girl i'll tell you that. One day she'll change the world for the
better. She has talent that would blow your mind. If she keeps it up she will have everything going
for her.'
'Oh Rose' I thought, "What am I doing here'. I slowly sank down from where I was standing
and lent against a locker. A locker!! I haven't checked her locker!! I scrambled up from where I was
sitting and pulled out her schedule. "Locker 419. Combination 22-8-12" I hurried down the hallway
almost knocking out 2 students and ran up to her locker and opened it. The only thing that was in
there was a book. No not a book. A diary?
I opened the diary to find another letter attached to the inside of it. I pulled it off and read:
Dear Detective,
Congrats. You've found the first clue of many more to come. I have got to give you a hand, but I just
simply can't because this should have been the first place you looked at when you arrived. Not
going around talking to teachers. What good does that do. Really the teachers know nothing about
me. The only thing they know is what they see and trust me they don't see much. But, nevertheless,
you have found the first clue, and for that you have my diary. And that alone, Detective Patrick
Green, should answer a lot of your questions. More than those teachers ever could. Read it wisely
for that is the key to everything that is me and me alone, and i'd do it fast because my fate is in your
hands.
Till next time,
Rose Miller
P.S- Don't judge a book by its cover.
Oh great another riddle, but I got to get cracking on this. I walked down the hallway and
opened her diary and began reading, because this might just save her life if I read it wisely.
