Chapter 3- The 2nd Clue.
I was pacing back in forth in front of my car thinking. How did she know I talked to the
teachers? Was see watching me? How did she know my name. How could she possibly know who
is working on her case? All this questions rang through my head. See has to be watching me how
else would she know all that, and if see is watching me that means she is close by. I scanned the
parking lot and then out towards the forest. Nothing. Maybe i'm paranoid. I sighed. I got to find her. I
can't let this end like all my other cases.
*****Flashback****
"Help!!!! Someone help!!" I heard a scream echo out through the warehouse. She's here! I
got to save her. I ran towards the stairs drawing my gun in the process. "Amanda!" I screamed out.
"I'm here. Where are you?!" I ran up the stairs as fast as possible and stopped at the top waiting
for her reply. I heard a muffle "In here" coming from my left. I walked as silently as I could down the
hallway. I kept hearing footsteps behind me, but I shrugged it off because I didn't see anyone when
I came up here.
A door was coming up on my right and I stopped at the foot of the door listening. I heard
sounds of struggling coming from the other side. I opened the door slowly when I heard her scream
out a breathless "No!" But it was to late I knew as soon as I heard the gun shot. I knew it was over.
The bad guys had won. They had tied a string to the door and attached it to a guns trigger so as
soon as I opened it...well she had no chance.
*****End of Flashback*****
That's why I have to save here. I can't let her die. I just can't. I pulled out her diary and
opened to the first page. There was a side note written on the top of the page reading "There's a
clue on every page so I wouldn't skip pages. -Rose" God! How many pages are there. I flipped to
the last page. 30! There's 30 clues! I flipped back to the the beginning and noticed another note
"Every clue leads somewhere Detective. So every clue leads to another note from me. -Rose"
I sighed. Better get started then. The first entry read:
Dear Diary, August 18, 2009
Today was my first day of high school. And i'll tell you one thing it sucked. I don't know why I
expected anything different. It's not like people change over a summer. It's not like people change
at all anyway. I'd rather people be mean to me then act nice. I can't stand fake people. I wish I could
get away from it all. Away from people who don't want me around anyway. Maybe i'll runaway.
