It was six o'clock and the girls had just arrived. Jo and alex were on call so they weren't in. Arizona had bought some Chinese food for them all, Callie got the wine and Bailey got the popcorn and movies.
They had finished their food and Callie opened the wine and went to pour some for Meredith.
"Oh um none for me please." Meredith said to the brunette women.
"Oh come on Mer, you love this wine. That is why I got this one." Callie said attempting to pour it again.
"No, I uh, I can't have wine.." Mer responded.
"Why not? Come on just a little bit." Callie said.
Just then baby Ellis started to cry.
"Sorry guys. Will be back in a minute." Meredith said as she ran upstairs, leaving her guessed alone. They all shared a look.
Meredith came back downstairs with a little bundle of joy a few minutes later after changing the baby's nappy.
"This is Ellis. My beautiful baby girl." She said showing them the infant.
"Meredith, she is beautiful!" Arizona exclaimed. "Why didn't you tell us you had a baby?"
"I wanted to surprise you."
"How old is she?" Callie asked cooing at the baby.
"She was actually born um, yesterday!" Meredith told them. They all looked at her with the same expression jo had the day before. "She's Derek's don't worry. Jo thought the same thing!" Meredith reassured them.
"Um, Meredith can I?" Bailey said. "Can I hold her?"
"Yeah of course you can. Ellis," she looked lovingly at her baby girl "this is Auntie Miranda, she saved mummy's life many years ago." Meredith said passing the baby to Bailey.
"Look at you! You are just the cutest little girl I have ever seen!"Three hours later Callie and Arizona had left as they had a babysitter for Sophia. Bailey was still there wit Meredith. Ellis was sleeping in her moses basket. Both the women were watching her peacefully.
"Bailey, I have something to ask you." Mer said.
"Yeah? Ask away." The women responded looking up from the baby to the women she had watched grow from a little intern that didn't know much into an amazing surgeon and even better mother.
"Well, obviously as you know you are Baby Baileys godmother..." She started. "Would you be Ellis's godmother?" She asked
"Meredith, of course I will., I am honored that you would ask me!" Miranda replied. And with that she said her goodbyes and headed home.
