It is late when Paul gets to the town he is to stay in, and nothing is open yet. The hotel he is to stay at isn't ready for him. Check out isn't until 11 AM and check in isn't until 2 PM. He looks around the downtown area and wonders what he will do for the next 10 hrs when he spots the Truckers Cafe flip their OPEN sign on.
"Well at least I can eat." He says to himself while parking his car in front of the building. He shuts the door and locks the car.
When he walks in he is greeted by the smell of biscuits and gravy. He smiles as a woman walks up to him and smiles a very cute crooked smile and asks how many. He returns her friendly smile and answers one. She walks him to the counter and puts down the menu.
"This okay? We usually save booths and tables for those of a sizeable party."
"Yeah this is fine. Thank you." He answers
"Elizabeth will be right out for your order." She says and walks away.
Paul picks up the menu trying to decide what he wants.
"What can I get ya to drink?" Asks a blonde girl with amazing green eyes and cute little smile.
"Coffee please." Answers Paul
"My names Elizabeth. One coffee coming up." She says and disappears to the kitchen.
Paul goes back to looking at the menu as a group of guys walk in talking about the state highway patrol.
Mary the same girl who seated Paul walks over to seat them.
"Hey Mary long time no see." Says a rough looking trucker. "Where's my girl at today?" He asks with a slight smile.
"Morning Earl she's on the counter today, so Diane will be waiting on ya instead." Answers Mary seating them in a booth near Paul.
Mary disappears to get Diane about that time Elizabeth comes back with coffee and a cup.
"Sorry it took so long I had to make a fresh pot. "She says with a shy smile "are you ready to order or do you need another minute?"
"No I'm ready. I think I'll have the biscuits and gravy and a side order of bacon." He answers
"Coming right up." She says and walks towards the kitchen, but not before Earl sees her and makes his way over to the counter.
"How ya doin pretty lady? How about you and I go for a drive after your shift ends?" Asks Earl with a stupid grin
"No thanks Earl I already have plans." She answers back as she heads for the kitchen
"Earl aren't you ever gonna learn she isn't into you man?" Laughs one of the guys at his table which sends the whole table laughing.
