"I want to break up." I froze and looked up at her.
"What?" I questioned, not believing what i just heard.
Carmen simply shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "I want to break up."
"Why?" I dont... things are so good between us. I don't know why she wants to break up with me.
"I just don't feel the same anymore and I've been feeling this way for a while now." She ran her hand through her Brown hair. The hair that I've played with countless times as we made out. "I just think it's better if we end things now instead of dragging it along."
What do I say? What am I supposed to say? She stared at me blankly before sighing.
"I'll see you around or something I guess." She turned around and strut out of the room.
I stood there for a while. Wondering what to do now. We were supposed to spend tonight together. I had turned down my friends invitation to go clubbing in favor of Carmen.
Yet, here I was alone at home on a Saturday night.
I took a deep breath, pushing down the sad thoughts. Stop thinking about her.
She left you.
She doesn't like you anymore.
But where did we go wrong? Everything was perfect. I thought it was still perfect... until now. Our relationship was really good and there was never a moment where I doubted her feelings.
I sighed and grabbed my phone, quickly texting Leslie and the others that I'd be meeting them after all.
I walked into my room and opened my closet. I pulled out a tight red dress, ignoring the black one that I'd usually opt for. I stripped and changed into the dress. I pulled out black heels and slipped them on.
I undid my black hair from my braid and i left my hair loose. I sat in front of my mirror and pulled out my bags of make up. I carefully applied mascara, eyeliner, and red lipstick.
I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled proudly, already feeling a lot better. Being able to go out was a lot better than staying at home and sulking around.
My phone rang it's melodic tune and I quickly answered when I saw it was Leslie. "Aida!"
"Hey, I'm just about ready to leave."
"We're already at the club! Sorry I didn't see your message till now!" She shouted over the loud music.
"That's fine, which one?"
"The one on Broadway!" The loud music on the other side went quiet as soon as she finished.
Why did she hang up? Broadway an what?
I sighed. It's probably the one we usually go to.
I grabbed my phone, ID with cash, and keys before walking out. I smiled at Kenny, my doorman, and asked him to hold my keys for when I got back. That's not something I'd like to lose. I tucked my phone on the side of my breast, before stepping out into the busy New York night.
I walked to the corner and hailed a cab. I made sure to get a black one- as long as it's not yellow- and told him the address. I watched the streets go by, the big buildings, the people, and busy restaurants.
Arriving in front of the club, I paid the man the $10 and stepped out into the chilly night air. I smiled, grateful it was Daryl as the bouncer and not some new guy. I walked to the front of the line, despite the pleas and complains of the people on line.
