This is just a list of some of my favorite quotes, from various sources, and, sometimes, a bit telling you what I think they mean. This, I think, is the reason I'm posting these- to express my opinion in a sort of straight-forward way.

DISCLAIMER- I've written the source next to the respective quote, so I DON'T OWN ANYTHING down here, other than my own opinion. (which are in italics)

The quotes are about a lot of different things and are my favorite ones. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did! I'll keep updating this whenever I find a new one. Enjoy :)

Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured. - Mark Twain

A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.-Mark Twain.

Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.- Mark Twain. This is a really beautiful one. I had to read it a few times to completely understand the meaning, which I won't be explaining (unless you want me to). Nobody could have explained the essence of forgiveness in a more beautiful way, or so I think.

But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most? - Mark Twain.  Again, this is amazing! But also a little saddening, because, after all, who does?

Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.- Mark Twain Think of this when you're inclined to ask, 'Why should I do this?' :)

All generalizations are false, including this one. -Mark Twain. This one just makes me smile.

The best way to cheer yourself up, is to cheer someone else up. -Mark Twain. I've tried it, and it works!

What a wee little part of a person's life are his acts and his words! His real life is led in his head, and is known to none but himself.-Mark Twain. Wouldn't you agree?

I was seldom able to see an opportunity until it had ceased to be one.- Mark Twain.

Thousands of geniuses live and die undiscovered-either by themselves or others. -Mark Twain.  We shouldn't let this happen...

Humour is mankind's greatest blessing- Mark Twain.  I whole-heartedly agree.

If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.- Mark Twain.

My books are like water. Those of the great geniuses are wine. Fortunately, everyone drinks water. -Mark Twain I love how he praises his own books so subtly.

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear. -Mark Twain.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you're a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt. -Mark Twain.

The secret of getting ahead, is getting started.-Mark Twain.

If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.-Mark Twain Eating frogs is a rather strange example, but as long as the meaning is clear, ....

It is better to deserve honors and not have them, than to have them and not deserve them. -Mark Twain. It's impossible to live life happily with guilt hanging over your head.

Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of a joy, you must have someone to share it with.-Mark Twain.

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over one who can't read them.-Mark Twain. There are different kinds of superiority.

Kindness is the language that the blind can see and the deaf can hear.-Mark Twain.  If you look closely, you can find it in the smallest place. Contrary to common belief, kindness is not extinct, but it can still be increased. :)

And my personal favorite- The secret source of happiness is not joy, but sorrow. There is no happiness in heaven. I don't know about the second part, but the first one is so perfectly true. It would lose its meaning if I were to explain it though.
