I shut the door. The sound echoed through the seemingly empty hall. It was cold, dark and smelled damp. I turned to leave when he appeared again walking slowly towards me. His stare went through me. His eyes were huge with blue so bright it would be blinding if it wasn't for the deep hollow pupils dominating his expression. I was terrified. I tugged at the door handle. Locked. I pulled harder until my hands were sore and red but it wouldn't budge. He was getting closer.
"Who are you?" He didn't stop and his eyes didn't waver. I demanded for his name once more but he was still focused. He was nearing me now and I started to panic. I looked around me for something to defend myself with but found nothing and so I aimed for the window. I backed up, slowly, as he approached. His eyes flickered to the window. We both knew what I would do next.
I leaped the small space and desperately fiddled with the lock when he pulled be back from behind. I landed in a heap on the floor and only just had time to scramble to my feet. He just stood and watched as I fled to the far side of the hall and through the first door I could reach. Slamming the door behind me I slid down. It appeared to be a cupboard or something along those lines as the walls were almost closing in on me. I was very claustrophobic. Footsteps getting closer and closer by the second. The door swang open. He glared at me.
"I'm not here to hurt you."
"W-who a-are you?" I was shaking like hell. That look never left his eye, the look of danger.
"I'm here to help you," What? Help me? 'Stand up.' I slowely rose, my stomach hurting again. I winced with pain. "Careful." He brought me out of the small cupboard and leaned me against the wall. I couldn't move, the pain was so bad now, I didn't want to. "Brace yourself."
"Who a-are you?" I was no longer stuttering out of fear, but out of pain.
"Has it been getting worse?" I couldn't reply, even if I could, I didn't want to. How did he know about that? How did he know I would come here? Who was he? And, what did he mean, 'help me'?
"Don't be scared when I tell you this. I'm here to protect you, all of us are. Our species have been protecting humans for milenium, so you have nothing to be frightened of." Protect? Species? Human? "I'm a vampire."
I frose. I wanted to run but I couldn't move. The pain was gone, but I was so scared I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest. I wouldn't have believed him but when I looked in his bright blue eyes, at his sharp teeth, I didn't know what to believe. When I finally found the courage to speak, all I said was, "V-vampire? Y-you're lying."
"I'm not. But this is the least of your troubles..."
