Hunger is Life

"Do you need any help, its been awhile, but I know my way around a kitchen." Warren says, coming up from behind me. I smile, and nod my head. I haven't had company in such a long time, that I honestly don't mind some help in the kitchen.

"I'm only making sandwiches, but if you could cut the tomato and lettuce that would be great." I tell her, grabbing bread I made myself and sliced it in perfect slices and took out some thin sliced meat, of course I had to hunt to get the meat, but its food. I aligned the products, as Warren finished with the tomato and handed it to me. She started on the lettuce as I placed on the tomato. "Is there anything anybody doesn't like?" I ask Warren, not wanting anyone to have an allergic reaction on my watch or something.

Warren shakes her head, shrugging her shoulders. "Not that I know of, no one is particularly picky considering how limited food has been." She states, pushing the lettuce towards me as I place them neatly on the sandwiches, top them off with another slice of bread, place them on separate plates, and look up at Warren. "Help me bring these out?" I ask, and she smiles at me, nodding.

"Of course, Id'e love to help." She says, grabbing three plates and I grab the rest. We walk out and hand the food out, all their eyes practically bulging out of their heads. They were so obviously starved. Doc tilts his head at me, giving me a grateful smile. 

"Thanks girlie." He says, and I return his smile as I walk into my brothers old room were the boy 10K laid on his bed. His eyes were open, his skin tone looking a lot better. I smile as I kneel beside him, placing the plate at his bedside.

"Thanks." He says, sitting himself upright as he grabbed the food and took a large bite out of it. You could tell by the look on his face he enjoyed it, making me smile a bit more. He looked up, setting the rest of it down as he swung his legs out over the edge of the bed. "I feel a lot better, what did you give me?" He asks, scratching the back of his neck. I shrug lightly.

"Just some plain antibiotics. I have plenty, considering my mother used to be a nurse and a major health attic. " I giggle a tiny bit, missing her a lot. She, my grandmother, and my brother were the most important things in my life.

And now their gone. I sigh.

"I'm sorry, I bet you really miss them. I know how lonely it can be living on your own." He tells me, a sigh then escaping his lips as he looked down at me, giving me a weary smile. I honestly do not know what to say, so I shrug. 

"Its the Apocalypse, I suppose its something you gotta get used too."I say, placing my hand against his forehead. He felt a lot better too. I give him a crooked smile as he continues to eat more of the sandwich. 

"I dunno, I think everyone needs somebody. I lean a lot on Doc, he's like a father." 10 K says, biting on his lower lip as I nod. He has a point, I guess i've grown so used to living on my own, I forgot what it was like to have someone to lean on. 

"well, that luxury abandoned me quite awhile ago." I say, standing up as I play around wit one of my brothers old toy light savor from the Starwars thing he loved to watch every Saturday morning. He even got me addicted to the darn series. 

10 K looks up at me as he quirks an eyebrow, looking as if he had never seen anything like this before. I smile, handing it to him as he waves it around, a light chuckle escaping his lips. "What is this?" He asks me as Doc suddenly walks in, his eyes lighting up. 

"That boy, is a light savor. It was huge when I was a boy. It came from the awesome Starwars movies. Miss, "He looks at me, "Your brother must of been the coolest dude ever." He tells me, making me smile wider as he takes the toy from 10 K who still looks slightly confused as he finds another and throws it at 10 K who is quick to catch it. 

Then next thing I know, their playing Starwars and whacking each-other with the plastic toys. Warren then comes in and peeks, lightly laughing. "Boys will be boys." She says, rolling her eyes as I nod slightly in agreement. 

"This is probably the happiest i have been in years." I laugh lightly as I watch them. 10 K looks up at me, a wide grin on his and Docs lips. And I swear, I could just be imagining things from all this time alone, but I swear I saw a glint in his eyes when he looked at me, making me blush and quickly look back over at Warren.

"I bet, thanks for the food. hunger has been a nightmare for us." She tells me, and I simply wave it off.

"Hunger is life, its honestly nothing. I'm happy to help." I tell her, and she nods in agreement. 

"I like you girl." She tells me chuckling as she looks back over at the boys. I cross my arms over my chest, as then Murphy walks in, huffing loudly. 

"You have got to be kidding me." He barks at the scene, making me snicker.
