I remember a few years back a completely different Wattpad. It was so much easier to get involved with different families.
There were the annoying young teenagers (my fam). Who were typically girls between the ages of 11 and 14. And this group was mostly fanfiction and Jane Doe writers.
*Jane Doe writers who write cheese-filled stories with flat lead female character.
I was part of the fanfiction group-- Broomsticks, Magic, and--- the Yule Ball? was my first and WORST Harry Potter Fanfiction. That thinking about it makes me cringe-- but people enjoyed it and I improved immensely while I wrote that cheesy AWEFUL book.
Then there were the all mighty "Supremes" that were in each fam. For me, honestly the supreme authors that I could only dream of being able to write like we're @reachingformorex and the author of The Betrayal of Hayley Potter. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. To make it short and sweet, it was honestly so much easier to get in touch with similar authors who write similar things regardless of what genre-fam you were part of.
AND THEN there was the glorious Meebo Chat Bar. I STILL AM SO ANGRY THEY TOOK THAT AWAY. For those of you who weren't on Watty in 2010-2011, Meebo Chat was basically our inbox. We could go to the inbox, OR we could chat with our fans/friends like people chat on Facebook. It made it so easy to see who was on or offline. Or ask another author a question, there was something much less intimidating about chatting with an author you liked with Meebo.
But alas, something happened between Meebo and Wattpad and our beloved chat bar was taken away from us. That's when Wattpads downfall/growth began.
Sure we still had a status bar (WHICH WE STILL REALLY WANT BACK), and I honestly loved the create page them. Idk anymore, Wattpad just seemed so much more simple to use, and now it seems like they just care about the visual appeal it has to people.
Just...just I can't. Do any of you remember the Wattpad I'm talking about? What are your thoughts on the changes Wattpad have had?
