"hi, I'm Jesslynn Wicker, today is my first day." I say, with a smile to the short blonde at the front desk of Aspen Creek Photo.
"oh!! Hi! I'm Sarah. Vicky told me you'd be here soon. Follow me, she's in her office." The girl smiles.
I follow her to the back, leaving this middle aged woman with long, dark, brown hair at the desk.
"Vicky! Jesslynn is here!" Sarah says loudly as we approach the closed door that I am guessing is Vicky's office.
The door opens, and a man about 20, walks out.
Vicky was sitting at her desk, typing something on her computer and talking on the phone.
She looks up, and smiles.
"hey jess, take a seat. Thanks Sarah. You can go back to work now." Vicky says. Than goes back to her phone call.
"thanks for walking me here." I say to Sarah.
"you're welcome. Glad youre here." She smiles, and walks back to the front.
I close the door, and take a seat in a leathered chair, in front of Vicky's desk.
"give me a second." She says quietly.
I nod and let her finish her phone call.
About 5 minutes pass, and she finally hangs up.
"I'm so sorry!" She says putting her phone down and looking at me apologetically.
"it's okay." I smile.
She nods. "so as you already know, we called you here to be one of our traveling photographers. Which means, when we get called to birthday parties, weddings, or any kind of photo shoot needed, you will be there. And there's a possibility you will be coming in to work front desk, or if one of the girls or Ben is out, you will be filling in for them in their studio." She informs.
Not really sure how to respond, so i just nod and say, "yes ma'am."
"okay, you have a four week training. That starts Thursday. Today, tomorrow and Wednesday, you will be watching the others here. The class is 4 weeks, but if you really pay attention these 3 days, it shouldn't take you more than 2 maybe 3." She says.
I nod. "is there certain places you want me to be today?" I ask.
"well, there are 3 parts of this job, indoor studio, traveling photography, and the front desk. Tiffany and Harper have a photo shoot for two girls' and there friends for their homecoming on Thursday. I'd like you to go over to Burbank and help them set up, and work hands on. Since that's not really what we would call a real Photo shoot, it'll be okay. Today, since it's already noon, and we close in 3 hours, lets have you work front desk with Sarah. You can leave around 2 if you'd like. And than tomorrow, you'll be in the studio with Ben, he is a sweetheart. He's been here for over 10 years, and is a really good photographer. He'll help you with any questions or concerns you have. Any questions?"
"not that I can think of."
She nods and continues, "now, today, you can actually try to work and help Sarah out, because taylor, the other girl at the desk, leaves in half an hour. So it'll just be you and Sarah. It shouldn't get that busy because it's a monday, but no one ever knows. But tomorrow, with Ben, you are just watching, and learning. If you want to take notes, great, if not, that's fine. He likes to do things, his certain way. But if he says or asks for you to help him out, that's okay. I know you did something similar to this in Florida, so I'm not expecting you to take 4 weeks to learn this. But just in case, you have that time." She smiles.
