"Okay, everybody please settle down!" Mrs. Grey calls out. The class quietly whispers and shuffle to their seats. "I'm pleased to announce we have a new student, Ashton." The teacher points at Ashton, he smiles, and sends a small wave to the class.

Ashton's eyes scan the class and fall on a girl sitting in the back scribbling furiously in her notebook. She looks up and Ashton smiles when her green eyes land on him. She quickly puts her head down using her hair to cover her face.

Mrs. Grey looks around and then claps. "Oh, good we have an open seat. Ashton, you can seat in the back by Charlie." She points at the green eyed girl in the back. "Charlie, raise you hand so Ashton knows who you are." Charlie's eyes go wides behind her black raybans. She quickly puts her hand up and then it's falling back to her side. Ashton walks over to the table and sits down next to her. She snaps her notebook shut and puts it in her backpack. Then she pulls out a different notebook that has Chemistry written across it in big loopy, curvy, letters. She flips it open.

Ashton pulls out a notebook of his own and uncaps his pen. "Charlie, pretty name."

She scoffs. "It's a boy name. My mom wanted a boy, you can probably imagine her disappointment when she got me." She mumbles. Ashton frowns. He can already tell that she is a negative person, he hopes to change that.

"I thought maybe it was short for Charlotte." Ashton says. Charlie pushes her dirty blonde hair behind her ear.

"Well, you thought wrong." She hisses.

Ashton sits in Chemistry trying to listening to the teacher but Charlie keeps staring at the side of his head. She's being staring at him for the past two weeks. She taps her pen furiously against the table and her hand twitches every once in awhile.

"Are you a writer?" Ashton asks after about twenty minutes of Charlie staring at the side of his face. She shakes her head and blinks rapidly like she was daydreaming.

"Huh?" She asks her eyebrows knitting together in confusion.

"I asked if you're a writer." He repeats and she instantly glares at him.

"Why do you want to know?" She mumbles.

"Well, your hand constantly twitches like you're itching to write something down." Ashton says, then he adds a smile.

"I don't feel like writing around you." She says filling in a blank on the worksheet that their teacher gave them.

"Why not?" Ashton asks trying to read what she wrote on her paper.

"Because you'll try to read it over my shoulder." She says shamming her hand down to cover the answer.

"Okay, fine. Don't write around me. But at least put me in one of your stories." Ashton says pouting. Charlie rolls her green eyes behind her glasses.

"Please, I already put you in one of my stories. You have like the perfect personality. Plus you're gorgeous." She says rolling her eyes, then they go wide when she realizes what she just said.

Ashton opens his mouth to comment on what she said but the bell, that signals the end of class, goes off and she's out the door in a flash.
