Chapter 1:

"Ellie! Come down stairs right this minute and help me bring in the groceries." My mother yelled to me from the garage.

Let me tell you something about my mom; she's over excited, most of the time, and basically acts like a normal girl teenager. She gets super excited about school drama and boys. She squeals and gasps, and even the worst one, she says OMG. Creepy right? I just don't understand her sometimes.

"Coming mom!" I yell running down the stairs.

"Oh! Ellie!" my mom starts talking to me as soon as I get downstairs. "I have some wonderful news you won't even believe it!" she squealed.

"Oh joy," I murmured to myself when she couldn't hear me. We started putting the groceries in the kitchen and in the pantry.

"So, when I was at the supermarket I saw this lady, who was about my age, and had her daughter with her and her daughter started causing trouble, so I went to go help her out and oh, she's such a lovely lady! You should have seen how pretty she was and her purse is from Coach and it was all silver and her shoes, OMG! They were-"

"Mother" I interrupted her. "You're rambling. Can you continue with this lady your talking about?"

"Oh, I was getting off track. Whoops! Sorry sweetie! Anyways, her daughter kept bothering her and so I helped her out because she totally needed it. She was on the phone with work, I think. I know I would have wanted help! I started talking to her daughter, Jordan, oh such a sweet girl, and she started telling me how she was dragged along by her mother because she doesn't have a babysitter."

I so do not like where this was going. This is going to be a disaster.

"Jordan's mother, Lily, got off the phone and we started talking and getting groceries together," she paused. "Oh, Ellie, that doesn't go there. Put the cheese in the bin above that one and then put away-"

"Mom-"

"Lettuce. Oh, I forgot lettuce and tomatoes. No! I need tomatoes! Where did the-"

"Mom! Finish the story please."

"Right, right, right! Anyways Lily and I were talking about how Jordan needs a babysitter, and since Lily and her husband are rarely around they needed someone to watch her over the summer. I immediately thought you could do it! Oh, Ellie, wouldn't that be great and you'd get so much money it would really benefit you. I'm so excited, I told her you could babysit Jordan for the whole summer!"

"What!? Mom, you told her I could do it. I have plans! Could you ask me next time please before you get so excited?"

"Honey it will be so easy! Jordan is so adorable you will love her! Yes, next time I will ask but it was so hard to say no to Lily she really needed it."

"Oh okay, I'll do it."

"Yay!" My mom squealed again and ran to hug me. "Oh my goodness! This will be amazing and you will love their family!"

"Alright Mom, I'm going to go back upstairs. Do you need anymore help?" I asked her. She started to slow down and look a little tired.

"I'm fine I'm going to go take a nap. See you in a bit, El."

"Bye Mom!" I quickly said as I started to leave.

I cannot believe I am babysitting someone I haven't ever met before. Seriously? I'd like to have a warning. Wait till Annie here's about this.

"Annie! What am I supposed to do?" I asked her over the phone.

Annie is my best friend for life. I've known her since she moved across the street from me in third grade and at the time I was being bullied, actually all through the rest of elementary and a little bit of middle school but that's a long story, and Annie saw me crying one day so she started helping me with the bullies and that's how we became friends. She stood up for me and I definitely thank her for that and her 'don't mess with me' attitude. Plus, she's a blast to hang out with you never know what to expect form her.
