Chapter 7:
Screaming.
That's what I woke up to at seven thirty in the morning. Not the ideal way to wake up, but I was for sure up. I was still sleeping in Justin's room and it's been a couple days since I arrived here.
I jumped out of bed, still worried and shocked about who was screaming. I look back over to the bed to see that Justin was sleeping peacefully. Oh that's just great, we have been sleeping in the same bed together. Not in that type of way. I didn't even know he was there! That makes it seem so much more awkward.
I went over to grab one of Justin's baseball bats that just sit in his room all day, and heard another scream. I crept out of Justin's room to follow the screaming, holding the bat to protect me. I probably should have woken Justin up, but it's too late now. I'm still surprised he is sleeping through all of the screaming.
By now I was at the end of the hallway, near Jordan's room and the two guest rooms. Currently Mr and Mrs. Durango are out for a meeting and decided to stay over night at a hotel. Cole has been staying in the guest room the entire time I have been here. Why? I have no clue. But it's none of my business, so I don't bother to ask him.
I heard the scream again and barged into Jordan's room to see her sitting on the edge of the bed, rocking herself back and forth, in a ball, crying. I set the bat quietly on the ground and walk over to her side.
"Jordan. I'm right here. You will be okay." I whispered over to her along with a couple of other soothing things. It seems like she was scared for life. I wonder why. I pull her into a hug and start wiping her tears away. "Hey, can you tell me what's wrong."
"I-I-I had-d a-a b-bad d-dream." She said in between sobs.
"Oh no! Do you think you could tell me what it is about?"
"M-Me and Justin were at some prison place. We-we got kidnapped by these guys a-and Justin didn't help me. I g-got hurt really badly. My parents were fighting the entire time and it scared me." Jordan has stopped sobbing now, but a few tears still escaped.
"It was just a dream Jordie. Don't worry. Your brother will always save you. And your parents will stop fighting. Everything will be alright." I see out of the corner of my eye Justin coming down the hall. "Do you want me to have Justin come in here?" I asked softly.
"Umm. I-I." Jordan stopped talking when she saw that Justin entered the room.
"JJ? What's wrong?" His smile dropped to a frown when he saw Jordan still crying. He slowly moved over to her side to comfort her. Justin looked up at me very concerned. I wanted Jordan to explain to him what was wrong though. It was her nightmare, not mine.
Jordan spoke in a soft, quiet voice and told Justin about her dream. He put her on his lap and hugged her. He whispered a couple of things to her and a smile slowly grew on her face. She whispered back to him something that I wasn't able to hear and Justin nodded his head. Jordan started giggling and ran off of Justin's lap, out of the room. I looked at him confused.
"How did you get her to stop crying?" I would have to learn whatever trick he used because it's always hard to calm down kids when they are crying.
"I told her I'd take her to see a Justin Bieber concert." He gave a soft smile. I just laughed.
"That's all it took. Gosh, I should really start bribing people."
"It doesn't work all of the time though. Plus, I spend way to much money on her." He paused for a moment to pick up the baseball bat I took out of his room. "What is my favorite expensive Mike Trout signed baseball bat, doing in here?" Justin looked at me. I kept my head down and mumbled my answer,
"I heard Jordan screaming so I grab something to defend myself. I just ended up grabbing your bat." I smiled sheepishly.
"She was screaming?"
"Oh yeah. I thought someone broke in or something. It was a terrified scream that woke me up."
"Next time just wake me up."
"Okay. Um..." I trailed off not wanted to ask the question I was thinking.
"Yes Ellie?"
"Have you been sleeping in the same bed as me, since I have, what you can call 'moved in'?"
"Yeah, I have. It is my bed after all." His famous smirk crept back on his face.
I blushed. "Right. Yeah, I knew that."
"Of course you did. I did say you could join me." Justin wiggled is eyebrows up and down. Ugh, why must he be so perverted? If it was possible I became redder.
"Ha ha yeah you did. Uh, do you know who brought me up to your bed the first night I was here?" I questioned him.
"I do know. But I'm not going to let you know. That's only for me to know." I glared at him. He walked out of the room. I followed him.
"Why won't you tell me?" I demanded.
"There are a lot of things I don't tell you, Ellie. This will just add to the list." He smirked and walked into his room shutting the door. I was about to walk in after him, but my stomach disagreed with me. I went down to the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone.
* * *
"California girls we're unforgettable
Daisy Dukes bikinis on top
Sun-kissed skin so hot we'll melt your popsicle
Oooooh oh ooooooh
California girls were undeniable
Fine, fresh, fierce we got it unlock
West coast represent now put your hands up
Ooooooh oh oooooooh"
Currently, Justin, Cole, Jordan, and I were riding in the car on the way to the movies to see Grown Ups 2. I plugged in my iPhone earlier and we are blasting Katy Perry in the car. Personally, I love Katy Perry, but right now, music is not my favorite thing right now. Cole and Jordan were singing at the top of their lungs California Gurls. Nothing's odd about a seventeen-year-old guy singing Katy Perry. That is sarcasm indeed. I think I just saw Cole claw his hand when she was singing 'fine, fresh, fierce.' I don't know what to say. If things could get any worse...
"Kiss me. Ki-ki-kiss me
Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison
Take me ta-ta-take me
Wanna be a victim ready for affection
Boy you're an alien
Your touch so foreign
It's supernatural
Extraterrestrial"
It's like they are trying to blow Justin and I's ears off. Cole can really rap though, that's for sure. He does these really funny dance moves, like when the song says 'boy you're an alien' he points to Justin with a scared look on his face. Jordan and I just burst out laughing at this. The songs ended and I unplugged my phone. I could tell Cole was humming the tune and Justin was tapping his thumb to the steering wheel to the beat of the song. Didn't know there where fans of Katy Perry.
We arrived at the theater, got our tickets, and were waiting in line for some candy and popcorn. Yum! Movie theater popcorn is like heaven on Earth. I see some girls eyeing Justin and Cole and they start walking over.
"Hi!" One of the girls squeaked. Her voice was so high pitched, glass would break everywhere. You know in those movies and shows where the singers would sing so loud and high-pitched glass would shatter, that's exactly what her voice sounded like. It also reminded me of when someone dragged their fingers down a chalkboard and it made that noise that made you cringe. I can't stand that!
"Hey." Both guys mumbled. Jordan and I went to buy our food. What gentlemen the boys are. They didn't even buy us our tickets and made us pay for it.
